    Description

    MD Anderson Cancer Center has a Lead Services Coordinator opportunity in its Anesthesiology, Critical Care and Pain Clinical Support department.

    The ideal candidate will have an Associate's degree and five years of relevant work experience to include two years in a project coordination/lead/supervisory capacity.

    Individuals must be able to adapt to constantly changing demands of the institution and the department.

    The ability to multitask, possess strong customer service skills, good organizational skills, time management and be detail-oriented is a plus.


    Prefer candidates with experience working in a procedural area, an operating room (OR) environment, or coordinating care for patients undergoing procedures under anesthesia.


    Shift:
    Days, Varied, Rotating, Primary shift: 8-5 pm and 7:00 am - 4:00 pm, although can work 6:30-3:30 pm, 6:00-3:00 pm

    Work location: 100% onsite in clinic


    The primary purpose of the Lead Services Coordinator position is to provide and coordinate all tasks associated with patient services within a clinical setting, including but not limited to patient scheduling, physician and clinic template maintenance, and processing the accurate completion of all charge capture activities.

    Monitor, train, evaluate, and coach/mentor Patient Service Coordinators.

    Monitor Daily Operations:

    Functions as a technical expert and resource for the center for the online scheduling system and other systems related to the work of the PSCs in the Center.

    Develops and maintains daily templates, including blocking and unblocking, to accommodate physician absences. Act as a role model for the PSCs and support Clinical management. Perform all functions of a Patient Service Coordinator.

    Training/Coaching:
    Provides training and coaching to Patient Service Coordinators. Generates weekly/monthly work schedules for Patient Service Coordinators. Provides input in annual or periodic evaluations as well as in other disciplinary processes. Assess clinic flow processes and suggest how systems may be enhanced or changed to improve patient satisfaction.


    • Communication: Receive multiple telephone calls from internal/external customers and direct calls appropriately; demonstrates open communication behaviors, professionalism, and integrity consistently; recognizes when to redirect questions outside of the scope of position to other healthcare team members.
    • Scheduling: Demonstrates accuracy and analytical skill in the interpretation and coordination of physician orders to schedule diagnostic tests, procedures, treatments, and physician appointments. Collaborate with clinic management to maintain daily physician templates, ensuring that the waiting times by physician and patient are kept to a minimum. Ensures delivery of quality patient care in relation to the patient's prescribed diagnosis, treatment, and other directives from physicians, nurses, and/or administrators with the use of positive team-building behaviors.

    Attends required in-services and reviews. Demonstrates accountability for information contained in policies and procedures for the institution and the procedure area.

    Demonstrates awareness of and concerns for patients' safety by assisting in maintaining a safe environment for patients, co-workers, and visitors in accordance with Joint Commission and institutional standards.

    Procurement:

    Functions as Departmental Buyer for clinical areas; places all requested orders via computer or verbally communicates with vendors via telephone, online transactions, or email.

    Monitors Procedure Room supply inventory and PAR levels, keeping in close communication with Distribution Services regarding supply issues on daily deliveries.

    EDUCATION

    Required:
    Associate's degree. May substitute required education degree with additional years of equivalent experience on a one to one basis.

    Bachelor's degree


    EXPERIENCE

    Required:
    Five years of relevant work experience to include two years in a in a project coordination/lead/supervisory capacity. With preferred degree, three years of required experience.

    Preferred:

    Experience working in a procedural area, an operating room (OR) environment, or coordinating care for patients undergoing procedures under anesthesia.
