    YOU ARE an experienced, innovative, and energetic instructional designer who is passionate about creating e-learning experiences that help people become more effective in their jobs. You are deeply curious to learn about complex industrial subjects, and you think carefully about how to structure challenging content so it can be absorbed and put into action. When you start a project, you bring stellar writing, critical thinking, and project management skills to the table, along with insights from the latest research about adult learning. Working independently is not a problem for you, and you're comfortable navigating ambiguity, adapting on the fly, and collaborating to ensure your product is the best it can be.

    The successful candidate for this role will be primarily responsible for creating and delivering e-learning content that helps build technical acumen in our core businesses (Wood Products Manufacturing and Timberlands Management). You will work with subject matter experts to create engaging and effective online training modules on various technical topics that will help employees be more effective in their operating roles. You must be an expert at creating online training modules using Articulate 360. For some projects , you may also work with our internal multimedia and graphics experts to develop visual assets and solutions.

    This is a 6-12 month temporary assignment with the opportunity to extend further. We are offering a rate of $60-$80/hr on W2 based on experience. If you are selected for this role, you will be employed by our external staffing vendor, or you may contract directly with us as an independent contractor provided you have a business license. You may work remotely. Some travel to see our operations may be required.

    Key Responsibilities:
    • Partner with the Weyerhaeuser e-learning team and key business leaders to assess training needs, determine goals and expected outcomes
    • I nterview subject matter experts to understand their technical expertise, evaluate existing documentation, and develop course outlines that meet defined learning objectives.
    • Conduct your own supplemental research on training topics as needed
    • Design and develop engaging and effective training content, including learning objectives, storyboards, video scripts, simulations, learning activities, knowledge checks and assessments.
    • Use e-learning authoring and multimedia tools to create the right training option for each business need.
    • Lead projects from start to finish, including assessments, project timelines, design, and development. Communicate project status updates to manager consistently and on-time.
    Qualifications
    • At least 5 years of experience of e-learning instructional design in a business or academic environment
    • Experience designing and developing e-learning courses on complex technical topics
    • Submitting a portfolio is required for consideration
    • Strong knowledge about and ability to apply adult learning theories
    • Expert at using common e-learning software such as Articulate, Captivate, or Camtasia
    • Exceptional writing, storytelling, content organization, design, and critical thinking skills
    • Exceptional relationship-building and collaboration skills
    • Excellent project management skills with precise attention to detail
    • Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously
    • Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment
    • Passionate and committed to learning new skills and knowledge
    Preferred Qualifications:
    • Demonstrated track record of creating a variety of training solutions (ILT, VILT, hybrid)
    • Strong graphic design skills (proficiency using Adobe Creative Cloud apps, e.g., Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign)
    • Experience creating and editing videos, using video editing software (e.g., Adobe Premiere Pro, Apple Final Cut Pro)
