- A bachelor's degree in Human Services or a field related to human service; OR
- A bachelor's degree unrelated to Human Services and either:
- An associate degree and either:
- Demonstrated ability to be self-motivated and manage your time well.
- Demonstrated knowledge about trauma-informed care.
- Excellent written communication skills, including the ability to write in plain language with minimal spelling and grammar issues.
- Experience giving verbal presentations that were well-received and understandable to the audience.

- Protect children's safety and support families.
- Engage with children, families, resource parents and caregivers in a multitude of ways to achieve the safety and optimal outcomes for Oregon's children and families. All engagement will be conducted through a trauma-informed and antiracist lens.
- Conduct child safety assessments of alleged child abuse or neglect to determine if a child has been or is at risk of being harmed.
- Write professional reports that include CPS assessments and court reports.
- Collaborate with community partners on a daily basis.
- Balance the needs of the child and the family in conjunction with balancing legal requirements.
- Conduct assessment and fact-finding interviews to assess mental, physical, environmental, and social status of the caregiver.
- Analyze interview information to determine appropriate child placement. All determinations are made in consideration of each family's unique circumstances.
- Work is done in office and field, including client homes. Families served include mandated clients who may be hostile and resistant.
- Some travel is required.
- The employee in this position must have a valid driver's license.
- This position requires the ability to use computer technology, including a working knowledge of OR-Kids, Microsoft Outlook and Microsoft Word. May be required to develop proficiencies in other computer technology.
- This position requires working a flexible schedule as a condition of employment with a normal working day of 8 hours, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.; however, working hours may be adjusted within a given week, to provide planned services.
- Occasional compensated overtime during evening, overnight or weekend hours may be required.

The Office of Child Welfare, part of the Oregon Department of Human Services, is looking for dedicated and compassionate individuals to provide services as a Social Service Specialist 1/Child Protective Services/ Permanency worker in Dallas, Oregon.

What you need to qualify
1) One year of Human Services related experience; OR
2) Completion of coursework equivalent to certification consistent with Oregon Caseworker Competency;
