    River Valley Holdings is a family-owned distribution company based in Syracuse, NY, serving retail customers across the northeastern United States. The River Valley family of companies: River Valley Foods, Cavallaro Foods and Garden Spot Foods, distributes a wide range of specialty dry and frozen grocery items and consumable products out of warehouses in Syracuse, NY and New Holland, PA.

    General Description/Purpose:

    The Software Engineer would be responsible for new development along with support/enhancement of existing solutions built upon our own .Net / SQL Server multi-tier application. The ideal candidate will be able to contribute at various stages of the software development life cycle to a wide variety of data-centric projects.

    Job Responsibilities:

    • Build interactive solutions with MS Visual Studio utilizing the C# and Infragistics user interface controls
    • Develop SQL procedures, functions, and views (Microsoft SQL Server)
    • Build user reports using SQL Server Reporting Services
    • Analyze, troubleshoot and remediate data-related issues
    • Support existing systems - proactively manage and maintain multiple systems to ensure performance and availability
    • Ability to work effectively within a team, communicating clearly and collaborating with other team members
    • Good problem-solving ability and adapting to new problems and challenges
    • Test and resolve software bugs, ensuring the quality and reliability of applications
    • Work directly with users to document requirements for new functionality as well as support existing systems
    • Provide off-hours support on a rotating basis as needed

    Required Skills/Abilities:

    • Experience in C# with emphasis on user interface design and heavy database integration
    • Prior experience with T-SQL Scripting
    • Prior experience developing scalable enterprise software solutions
    • Proven analytical problem solving and debugging skills

    Education and Experience:

    • Bachelor's degree in computer science, software engineering or related field or, associate's degree in computer science, software engineering or related field with 2 years of similar professional experience.
    • Experience with SQL Integration Services and Analysis Services
    • Experience with MCL-Designer development toolset for mobile devices
    • Experience working with Microsoft Dynamics GP or similar accounting software
    • Experience with inventory and warehouse management software
    • Experience developing .NET API web services
    • Experience developing frontend web components and/or desktop client applications

    Work Schedule:

    This is a full-time on-site position: Monday - Friday, 8am-5pm

    Wages:

    • $65,000 - $80,000 per year
