    Proven work experience as a Certified Public Accountant
    Thorough knowledge of accounting and financial procedures

    Responsibilities


    The Accountant will lend their expertise to support the financial management and will work closely with the Manager of Administration and Grants (who is responsible for recording the organization's activities in QuickBooks).

    The Accountant will ensure the accuracy of the records in QuickBooks, and be responsible for producing monthly reports for the Finance Committee, the non profit will maintain its accounts on an accrual basis
    Monthly approval of records in QuickBooks to ensure accuracy and appropriate fiscal controls
    Monthly reconciliation of bank accounts, credit card, and payroll
    Monthly production of standard set of financial reports (Balance Sheet, Statement of Activities, etc.), including commentary and background on any non-standard activities/outlook/etc
    Approval of checks and ACH payments
    Support annual audit and tax return processes
    Maintain a schedule of fixed assets and depreciation
    Revise chart of accounts periodically to ensure alignment with budget/activities
    Suggest improvements to accounting set up, procedures, etc
    Qualifications
