    IT Systems Administrator - Madison, United States - Ayres Associates

    Description


    We're looking for someone who thrives in the information technology field, that feels comfortable working independently, and who appreciates working in a team setting.

    You will be required to establish and manage different priorities and have a thorough knowledge of the hardware, networks, and core infrastructure systems.

    In addition to a track record of process improvement, automation, and policy adherence, the candidate must have a good background in project management, vendor management, and security.

    An individual with experience implementing, managing, and troubleshooting IT technologies, such as servers, network appliances, cloud services, and Just-in-Time deployment strategies, would be the best candidate for this position.

    Please note that there is just one post with different office locations open.

    Key Responsibilities:
    Protect Company data, software, and hardware by coordinating, planning, documenting, and implementing environment security measures.
    Assist the Director of IT with projects, automation, and enforcement of IT policies.

    Serve as liaison for contracted managed services and other vendors, assisting with the accountability of service levels and project management.

    Manage, monitor, and improve key IT systems (VMWare, Azure, O365, Cisco ASA, Meraki SD-WAN, Defender, Intune, etc.) to address or escalate any identified security issues or refine the user experience.

    Manage and maintain the lifecycle of SQL database servers that house important sensitive data.

    Provide maintenance and lifecycle management for the scope of IT environments, including systems software, end-user computer systems, applications, hardware, and system configurations.

    Assist with the automation of business and technical processes utilizing the Microsoft Stack of automation tools (PowerShell, Power Platform, Visual Studio).

    Ensure that systems backups and disaster recovery strategies are operational and up to date.
    Troubleshoot, diagnose, and lead the resolution of hardware, software, and other system problems.
    Serve as escalations (level 2) for the helpdesk.
    Perform maintenance and upgrades of IT systems and services as the vendor requires.
    Design, configure, and test networking devices, computer hardware, and operating system software.

    Contribute to regular security and risk assessments, refine key security systems to support the findings of these assessments, and implement additional systems as needs arise to ensure an advanced security position.


    Required Qualifications:


    A bachelor's degree with relevant subject matter knowledge or an associate degree in an IT-related field is desired but not required.

    Minimum of 3 to 5 years of system administration experience with an infrastructure/SQL/network engineering background.

    Strong understanding of cloud platforms and virtual environments like Azure, Office 365, and VMWare; additional understanding of SD-WAN, WAN, VPN, and telecommunications administration is necessary.

    Ability to work nights and weekends (including overnight stays) as needed and willingness to travel to any office location to provide support.

    A valid driver's license with a good driving record.

    Desired Skills and Experiences:
    Excellent communication skills and strong interpersonal skills.
    Demonstrated experience managing projects and managing vendor relationships.
    Strong analytical, evaluative, and problem-solving abilities.
    Certifications related to system administration, network, or information security are preferred.
    Working knowledge of VMware, Hyper-V virtualization, and Backup strategies.
    Expertise in IT policies and procedures, including security and system administration.
    Thorough knowledge of Microsoft Server Operating Systems and SQL Server (Microsoft Certifications a plus).
    Understanding of Microsoft Office365, Azure, and Intune.
    Demonstrated experience with Automation tools and scripting (PowerShell, Power Platform, Forms...)
    Demonstrates a desire and ability to research, learn, and utilize new technologies.
