    Our client specializes in the manufacturing and servicing of a wide range of critical equipment, including transformers, generators, breakers, capacitor banks, and more. As a testament to their remarkable growth, they are currently expanding their service center in the Boston, MA area (Westford, MA). As a Field Service Engineer, you will be responsible for installing and repairing their equipment in the field.

    Requirements:

    • Technical certificate in an electrical or mechanical related field
    • 3-5+ years of High Voltage Substations and equipment (>69kV) - stand alone transformers/breakers (inside the fence) , doing field assignments, erection, testing and repair.
    • Proven leadership experience coordinating and leading crew on electrical projects installation.
    • Experience working with Power Utilities
    • Reading of electrical drawings and schematics
    • Knowledge of operating test equipment, such as CB timers, power factor, TTR, conductor, CT testers, Megger.
    • Familiarity with Windows applications
    • B.S. degree preferred, not required.

    Responsibilities:

    Perform field service operations that present usual or unusual problems requiring solid technical skills.

    • Execute or supervise the installation and commissioning of high voltage substation equipment (69kV through 550kV)
    • Supervise electricians and contractors.
    • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on High Voltage equipment.
    • Troubleshoot and repair equipment, applying own knowledge and experience.
    • Perform and document field tests such as electrical tests, SF6 leak detection, gas analysis, timing, power factor, contact resistance.
    • Compile and evaluate data to determine and resolve operating problems or malfunctions.
    • Conduct inspections to determine necessary maintenance and repairs and assist in determining resource requirements.
    • Develop recommendations and prepare written reports.
    • Maintain detailed records and logs.
    • Recommend changes such as new equipment or modified procedures to improve performance and customer satisfaction.
