Job Overview
The Office of Advancement's Donor Engagement team serves as key strategic partners in the creation, planning, and execution of high net worth, high touch engagement experiences for our key prospects and donors in the form of events, regional deployments, and on-campus activities.
Senior Director of Donor Engagement
leads and manages the Donor Engagement team, overseeing the planning, advising, and facilitating the highest level engagement opportunities for the Office of Advancement with University principals, faculty and leadership, as well as the stewardship of top donors, and the regional engagement of top prospective donors, including international.
Led by the Senior Director, the efforts with these groups help to promote and increase financial investments in the university's top fundraising priorities.
As well, theyprovide coordination and direction for internal stakeholders within the Office of Advancement on these efforts.
They manage a team of upwards of four team members with the aspiration to grow and build the team to six or seven individuals.
The engagement of our current and potential donors is a key focus for our successful fundraising growth - building this team is one of the keys to our success.
Work InteractionsThe Senior Director of Donor Engagement
is responsible for the continued meaningful involvement of Georgetown's top level donors and prospective donors in the life of the university.
It is only with a consistent level of high quality and thoughtful points of contact and strategic engagement that these donors will continue to look to Georgetown as a place to give expression to their own values and philanthropic agendas.
Interactions occur at the highest levels including, President and other University leadership, as well asmany other high-level donors and volunteers.
Reporting to the Senior Associate Vice President, Campaign Management and Donor Experience, the Senior Director works closely - but not exclusively - with the the Campaign Planning team, Development Officers, Strategic Initiatives, and Events and Communication teams; and interacts regularly with the AVP for University Development, Chief Operating Officer and the VP, Georgetown Advancement.
Bachelor's degree -
preference
for a Master's degree
7 to 10 years in the field of higher education development – preference for program development experience
Experience in effectively managing and leading direct reports and teams
Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office
Demonstrated success with leading and managing multiple stakeholders and competing priorities
Extraordinary organizational skills, attention to detail and excellent follow through
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Ability to work and contribute positively and constructively in a team environment
A creative, curious, and entrepreneurial spirit
Strong executive presence, confidence in decision-making, and strong project management skills
Ability to think critically and identify potential issues before they arise
Enthusiasm and the ability to thrive in an atmosphere of constant change
Professional demeanor, interpersonal skills, relates easily to a wide range of groups
Availability to travel domestically and internationally
Preferred Qualifications
Experience working in a frontline fundraising or alumni engagement capacity
Desire to work in a higher education environment and familiarity with navigating the landscape
Experience working with and in Salesforce
