Description

This is highly responsible technical work planning and coordinating a construction project program.

Responsible for independently administering a program such as street improvement, beach erosion control and intra-coastal signage, permitting or roadway design.

Work involves independent plan review and coordinating annual contract projects that require specialized guidance.

Prepares various Contract Review Committee packages and Board of County Commissioners agenda items; enters and tracks project data, aerial diagrams and specialized spreadsheets for reporting.

Maintains accurate records of all incoming and outgoing project funds; verifies the accuracy of submitted invoices from contractors; assists with researching information requested by the public; forwards notifications to other County offices and/or Governmental entities, and assists with data entry and clerical filing for the Division.

This position differs from the Technical Assistant II in the independence exercised such as little review for technical accuracy of the work performed.

The employee receives guidance from a superior but is expected to independently control the program.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Graduation from high school or an equivalent recognized certification supplemented by a certificate of completion for a vocational training program or two (2) years of college-level coursework (must specify 60-semester/90-quarter hours) in Civil/Electrical/Environmental Engineering, Drafting/Planning/Computer Science/Data Processing; minimum of three (3) years of experience in drafting, engineering or water and sewer

Equivalency:

Related Bachelor's Degree and one (1) year of related experience OR unrelated Bachelor's Degree and two (2) years of related experience.

PREFERENCE FOR EXPERIENCE WITH:

Windows compatible computers and software specifically for tracking and reporting construction project information; Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Power Point); compiling and organizing Contract Review Committee and Board of County Commissioner's items; Palm Beach County Construction Design Standards and Palm Beach County Permitting Process; Civil site construction standards and practices, County Roadway System and the associated resources; engineering practices and procedures relating to annual contracts and specifications for various right-of-way construction; supervising clerical or technical support staff; Human Resources Information System (HRIS) and/or financial systems (e.g., Advantage), or any other similar computer systems; Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) Roadway Design Criteria and Standards.

SAFETY-SENSITIVE POSITION SUBJECT TO RANDOM DRUG TESTING. Must be able to lift 40 pounds. Valid Florida Driver's License and PBC Risk Management Department driving history approval prior to appointment.
