Position Summary

The Senior Counsel, Contracts, will be focused on reviewing, drafting, and negotiating a wide variety of contracts, including commercial contracts.

This individual will also be expected to handle several other general corporate legal matters. This position is in Chicago, Illinois.

Responsibilities

Review, draft and negotiate a wide range of contracts, including services agreements, license agreements, technology agreements, marketing agreements, non-disclosure agreements, lease agreements and other agreement types.
Provide legal advice and guidance on contract interpretation, dispute resolution, and other legal matters related to contracts.
Stay up to date with changes in law and business that could impact the Company's contractual obligations and rights.
Assist in the development or enhancement of templates, policies, and processes to help create efficiencies in the contracting process.
Assist in managing outside counsel work on general corporate matters.
Other legal support for Company activities.

Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree and Juris Doctorate required (from an accredited institution).
Member of Illinois state bar or otherwise authorized to practice law in Illinois.
Minimum 5 years of directly related experience in a law firm and/or in-house legal department.
Knowledge of relevant substantive legal areas, including intellectual property, licensing, privacy, and data protection.
Working knowledge of general securities industry, financial markets and/or derivatives markets - preferred.
Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite applications including Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook, as well as document management and other office technologies.
Strong attention to detail and ability to understand complex contractual issues, assess risk and provide pragmatic recommendations to all levels of management.
Ability to independently manage multiple time-sensitive projects simultaneously.
