Key Responsibilities:


  • Oversee the delivery of internal legal services across all departments, ensuring timely and accurate legal advice and support.
  • Provide strategic guidance and counsel to senior management on legal and regulatory matters.
  • Manage relationships with external counsel, including selection, engagement, and performance evaluation.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant contractual, legal and regulatory requirements, including but not limited to securities laws, investment regulations, employment laws and regulations, and contractual obligations.
  • Strike a balance between managing risk while also helping the business move forward.
  • Develop and implement proactive risk mitigation strategies to protect the interests of Cresset and its clients.
  • Lead and mentor a team of legal professionals, fostering a culture of excellence, innovation, and collaboration.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance legal processes and procedures, with a focus on efficiency, effectiveness, process improvement and knowledge capture.
  • Negotiate and draft contracts, agreements, and other legal documents as needed, with an eye for detail and accuracy.
  • Monitor legal and regulatory developments relevant to the industry, assessing potential impacts and recommending appropriate actions.

Qualifications:


  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Good standing membership of a state bar.
  • Minimum of twenty years of experience practicing law, preferably with a focus on securities, M&A, and/or general corporate.
  • Strong understanding of legal and regulatory compliance requirements within the fund manager, investment advisory and/or wealth management industry.
  • Ability to thrive in a fastpaced, dynamic environment, with a strong sense of urgency and attention to detail.
  • Proven track record of effectively managing and leading a team of legal professionals.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact confidently with internal and external stakeholders at all levels.
  • Strategic thinker with a resultsdriven mindset and a commitment to delivering highquality outcomes.
