    Job Title: Mail Carrier/Mail Clerk (#29205)

    • Position Type: Full-Time Regular
    • Shift Timing: 7:00 am to 4:30 pm (40 Hours per week)
    • Location: 1 Perkins Square, Akron, Ohio 44308
    • Pay Rate: $14.50 per hour (Bi-Weekly)
    • Special Requirement: Valid Driver's License and Forklift Certification, DOT Physical

    Job Summary: Involves standing for extended periods to handle outgoing and incoming mail. Distribution of mail within the organization to different departments daily. Ability to drive a Van within a one-mile radius around the hospital for mail delivery/pickup. Sorting and metering mail to departments and floors, stacking mail and packages securely for transportation. Building good relationships with clients and colleagues, following conduct, attendance, punctuality, appearance standards, and safety protocols.

    • Essential Functions & Responsibilities:
    • Receives, sorts, delivers, picks up, and processes courier items, interoffice mail, magazines, and all classes of United States Postal Services (USPS) mail.
    • Tracks courier and accountable items (FedEx, UPS, Certified Mail, etc.).
    • Researches and routes unidentified and generic mail.
    • Coordinates, stages, and transports bulk mail items.
    • Receives, logs, delivers and tracks messenger items.
    • Coordinates and processes customized packaging and other customer special requests.

    Key Skills: Responsible for preparing and scanning various customer documents, arranging them in the prescribed order, formatting, inserting targets at customer request, and repairing documents as necessary. Scans documents using a range of scanning equipment including microfilming cameras, verifies input data for accuracy, and edits work for errors during processing.

    • Minimum Qualifications:
    • 1-3 years of experience in Mail Carrier/Shipping & Receiving
    • 21 years of age or older
    • High School Diploma or GED
    • Driving requirements such as Driver's License & DOT Physical
    • Ability to operate a personal computer

    Physical Requirements: The standard workweek is 40 hours and may include on-call duty, evenings, and/or weekends. Ability to lift containers weighing 20 to 50 pounds.

    Helpful Experience May Include: Mail Clerical Assistant, Mail Handler, Document Sorter, etc.

    Pay Disclosure: The starting pay is $14.50 per hour; however, the actual base pay may vary based on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Additional compensation such as bonuses and a comprehensive benefits package, including medical and financial benefits, may be provided, depending on the position.
