Position located in Traffic Services/Pavement Markings Unit (Cumberland County).
Employees perform a wide range of progressively responsible maintenance tasks in the preventive maintenance and repair of state-maintained roadways including installation of (Pavement markings and markers).
Other work duties include but are not limited to assisting with the (Signal and Signing Units) when needed. Employees must be able to establish and maintain effective working relationships with crew members, other departments, and the public.Must be able to communicate effectively with various people and work in an outside environment, including extreme heat and cold, year-round climate conditions." The selected candidate must be able to legally operate CDL required equipment/trucks with both manual and automatic transmissions at the time of hire or within 360 days of hire date.
"Additional Expectations:
Physical activities include but are not limited to standing, walking, talking, and hearing.
Exposed to extreme conditions such as ice, snow, difficult terrain, dust, extreme heat and cold, high volumes of traffic and heavy construction equipment.
The selected candidate must be able to legally operate CDL required equipment/trucks with both manual and automatic transmissions at the time of hire or within 360 days of hire date.".
Pre-employment drug testing required.As a condition of employment, a release form (ALCDRG-01) and a background statement (ALCDRG-06) must be completed and signed allowing the NCDOT to check with previous employers for the past two years about controlled substances and alcohol testing.
Safety toe shoes are required. This position may be responsible for transporting inmates for work detail. An inmate card approved by NC Department of Public Safety must be issued to NCDOT employees to transport inmates.Offer of employment will be contingent upon successful completion of NCDOT post offer employment evaluation.
