Overview:

Henkels & McCoy, West LLC, (HW) a MasTec Company, is a full-service engineering and construction company providing utility infrastructure solutions to its government and commercial customers. HW service offerings include Consulting & Planning, Engineering & Design, Construction Management, EPC/Design Build, Program Management, and extensive Field Construction Services. HW is a utility construction firm providing critical infrastructure for North America's Power, Oil & Gas Pipeline, Gas Distribution, and Communications markets. HW is also a founding member of the ET&D Partnership, a collaborative industry partnership working to reduce fatalities, injuries, and illnesses in the construction industry is currently recruiting for an Associate Estimator, for our San Diego, CA location.

Responsibilities:

Under close supervision, supports the estimation process by reviewing proposal specifications, drawings, and attending pre-bid meetings to determine scope of work and required proposal contents. May travel to job locations to assist in confirming project site conditions.
Maintains files and supporting documentation for estimate figures, change orders, and credits.
Assists in development of methodology, tools and approaches using fundamentals of HW Project Management practices.
Calculates various statistical data quantity take-offs, material price lists, labor costs per man-hour, equipment, etc.
Researches historical data (purchase orders, subcontracts, productivity analysis reports, etc.) and compiles summary reports to develop guidelines and precedence for future estimates.
Assists in preparation of estimates by completing a complete takeoff of scope of work.
Attends pre-bid conferences with Estimating team members and reviews projects with field operations personnel as part of estimating process.
Participates in developing project updates and bid package estimate documents.
Maintains files of working documents for back-up to estimating figures.
Follows awarded contracts may include estimating extra work or change orders.
Assists in the monitoring of conceptual estimates with actual cost data.

Qualifications:

General knowledge of estimating techniques, cost control, and material pricing preferred.
Ability to calculate mathematical extensions, read and understand engineering drawings, purchase orders, contracts, cost coding systems, etc. preferred.

Minimum Educational Background: BS/BA degree or equivalent combination of technical training and experience preferred.

Minimum Years of Relevant Experience: 2 years in construction estimating, engineering, or similar experiences preferred.

Wage Range: $40,000 - $70,000 annually
