- Managing designated caseload
- Identifying and evaluating coverage issues
- Suggesting defense counsel
- Coordinating initial consultations with the insured and defense counsel
- Recommending defense medical experts
- Reviewing and analyzing medical records
- Managing litigation, including consistent communication with defense counsel, monitoring legal status reporting, and reviewing billing practices
- Participating in depositions, court conferences, mediations, and trials
- Internally documenting claim progress
- Preparing claim status reports for reinsurers
- Maintaining regular communication with the insured throughout the claim resolution process
- Developing and implementing claim resolution strategies
- Directly handling settlement negotiations with plaintiffs or their counsels
- Staying informed about relevant legal decisions, claim trends, and industry standards
- Enhancing productivity and claim outcomes through technological tools
- Fostering a collaborative team environment by working closely with claims and other staff members
- Assisting in compiling and analyzing claim data
- Regularly attending company events, including Loss Prevention and Business Development functions
- Providing feedback on corporate initiatives and supporting IT projects
- Updating the Underwriting Department on claim progress with potential underwriting impacts
- Obtained a Bachelor of Arts or Science Degree
- Accumulated 2-4 years of experience in insurance claim handling or relevant legal fields
- Prior experience in handling medical professional liability claims in CT and/or MA is advantageous
- Willingness to travel to different locations as required, with reliable transportation
- Proficiency in using MS Office suite
- Capability to meet deadlines while juggling a diverse caseload
- Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication abilities
- Adept at managing work outside the office, including depositions, meetings, conferences, and trials
- Holding a Claim Adjuster's license in relevant states or willingness to obtain post-employment
- Tuesday-Thursday – In-office at Glastonbury, CT

Job Description
We are in search of a Claims Representative to manage a portfolio of claims, supporting the operations of the Claims Department and the company. The main duties include investigating, assessing, and resolving medical professional liability claims filed against the insured individuals of the company. This role involves handling claims across various medical specialties with low to moderate severity and complexity. Furthermore, it entails providing assistance to the Underwriting, Risk Management, Finance, and Business Development teams. This position reports directly to the Director of Claims at our Glastonbury, CT headquarters.
