Core Responsibilities

  • Section Manager is responsible for leading the development, execution, tracking, and monitoring of the strategy to ensure Con Edison and New York State energy storage goals and targets are achieved.
  • Conducts analyses, developing and leveraging analytics tools, tracking and optimization of existing economic models and programs, designing new Energy Storage programs, developing and incorporating market intelligence, ensuring seamless handoff to operational groups for third party programs and utility owned storage, and partnering with staff and external stakeholders to ensure successful program delivery aligned with state policy goals.
  • Works closely with the Energy Storage leadership team to align the organization with a common strategy and support successful program design, implementation, and ensure operational excellence through analytical innovation and support of thirdparty programs and utility owned assets.
  • Refine and implement the Company strategy for achieving NYS Climate Leadership & Community Protection Act (CLCPA) energy storage goals by working across other impacted groups within Customer Energy Solutions, Energy Management, and Central Operations.
  • Lead energy storage needs including writing and managing regulatory filings such as petitions, rate cases, and/or whitepaper comments to represent the Company's interest, or in conjunction with internal or external parties, to convey the Company's position in energy storage related proceedings.
  • Develop new energy storage opportunities to add business value and engage with stakeholders to promote the company's and customer's interests in energy storage.
  • Lead effort with internal and external stakeholders to shape, integrate, and optimize multiyear storage portfolio goals and develop and prioritize strategic initiatives.
  • Be a liaison between the storage organization and Area Station Planning, Engineering, and Analytics keeping apprised of potential needs and incorporating the storage groups most up to date modeling capabilities into the Area Station Planning and Analytics workflow.
  • Assist in the development and running of the Company's bulk energy storage solicitations with a focus on quantitative support.
  • Write implementation plans for new programs.
  • Lead energy storage regulatory needs including annual reporting, petitions, and tariff adjustments for third party and utility owned assets.
  • Work with internal stakeholders to identify additional value streams and use cases for future storage projects. Work with technical teams to write white papers supporting utility owned use cases, shepherd the projects through relevant regulatory processes, and lead financial analysis.
  • Be the regulatory point person between the storage organization and groups involved with the Companies numerous monetization options for storage including DR, VDER, and various rate structures.
  • Utilize and develop tools to calculate the value of energy storage systems for current and emerging use cases from the perspectives of the company, developers, and our customers.
  • Assess Company systems and processes that will be used to operate the bulk energy storage systems and utility owned storage systems and make recommendations for improvements. In short term, work with commodity operations to establish a monthly reconcile differences between wholesale market performance and the anticipated perfectly optimized performance according to our internal tools. Incorporate findings into process improvement.
  • Work with commodity operations to conduct a technological needs assessment.
  • Develop presentations to effectively communicate with senior executives, regulators, and external stakeholders.
  • Assist in communication and coordination with other utility and nonutility storage/Distributed Energy Resource (DER) teams to benchmark best practices, gather lessons learned, and identify potential new solutions for utility issues.
  • Lead crossfunctional teams responsible for new strategic department initiatives as necessary.
  • Provide problem solving, guidance, and strategic support to the department.
  • Perform other related tasks and assignments as required.

Required Education/Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree and 8 years' work experience.

Preferred Education/Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree Business, Finance, Economics, Engineering or equivalent and 8 years' work experience.
