- Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive environmental health and safety programs, policies, and procedures.
- Regular risk assessments and hazard evaluations should be conducted to identify potential safety hazards and implement corrective actions.
- Collaborate with departmental managers to ensure safety protocols are communicated and followed throughout the organization.
- Stay current with federal, state, and local environmental health and safety regulations, ensuring compliance with all applicable laws and standards.
- Coordinate with regulatory agencies and conduct internal audits to assess safety standards and regulations compliance.
- Develop and deliver employee safety training programs, including new hire orientation, refresher courses, and specialized training as needed.
- Provide guidance and support to employees on safety-related issues, including proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and emergency procedures.
- Maintaining training records and documentation to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Investigate accidents, incidents, and near misses to determine root causes and implement corrective and preventive actions.
- Prepare incident reports, documenting findings, corrective actions, and recommendations for improvement.
- Track and analyze safety performance metrics to identify trends and areas for improvement.
- Develop and maintain emergency response plans and procedures for various scenarios, such as fires, chemical spills, and natural disasters.
- Coordinate drills and exercises to test emergency response plans and ensure readiness.
- Serve as a liaison with emergency response agencies and coordinate response efforts as needed.
- A bachelors degree in occupational health and safety, environmental science, industrial hygiene, or a related field, as well as relevant certifications (e.g., CSP, CIH, CHMM), are a plus.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in environmental health and safety management, preferably in a manufacturing or industrial setting, is required.
- Must be familiar with federal, state, and local environmental health and safety regulations, including OSHA, EPA, and DOT requirements.
- Experience developing and delivering safety training programs and conducting safety audits and inspections.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify safety hazards, assess risks, and implement adequate controls.
- Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
