Technician - Indian Head, United States - US Naval Sea Systems Command
Description
Duties:
- You will independently perform work in support of qualification, preproduction, lot acceptance, surveillance testing, experimentation, and malfunction investigations.
- You will be responsible for assisting in the design of experimental components and configuration, purchasing or coordination of fabrication of necessary components established during the design phase.
- You will ensure successful movement and inventory of explosives identified for test series.
- You will gather required equipment, tooling, and materials and perform necessary explosive and nonexplosive assembly tasks.
- You will review, monitor, and prepare cost estimates, test plans, and similar documentation.
- You will review test results to draw conclusions and make recommendations to improve test experiments or correct problems.
- You will conduct nonroutine testing and evaluation and design new test instrumentation and procedure development.
- You will perform applicable preventative maintenance, calibration, certifications, and testing of all processes, equipment, instrumentation, facilities, and ancillary equipment used during operations.

- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
Qualifications:
For the NT-04:
Your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the
NT-3 (GS-9/10 equivalent) grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector.
Specialized experience must demonstrate the following
:
analyzing or developing technical engineering methods and procedures to
make recommendations on improving test experiments or correcting problemsin support of explosive testing.

For the NT-03:Your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the
NT-2 (GS-5/8 equivalent) grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector.
Specialized experience must demonstrate the following

performing technical engineering services by assisting in the
preparing and modifying of energeticsto draw conclusions on improving test experiments or correcting problems
in support of explosive testing.

Additional information:
You will serve as a Technician in the Non-Destructive Evaluation Branch (R35) of the Test & Evaluation Division (R3) of Naval Surface Warfare Center Indian Head.
This position is covered by the Department of Defense Priority Placement Program.
