    Data Science plays a pivotal role at Lyft, driving our product development and decision-making processes. As a member of our Science team, you'll be part of a fast-paced environment focused on revolutionizing transportation. Data Scientists at Lyft tackle a wide range of issues, from shaping crucial business decisions to developing algorithms that power our products. We are seeking dedicated Data Scientists who are eager to tackle fascinating and impactful challenges in the realm of micromobility.

    Joining our Bikes and Scooters Supply & Operations Technology Team as a Data Scientist entails developing mathematical models that support the core services of our micromobility platform, enabling efficient operations at scale. Unlike other companies of a similar size, we tackle a diverse set of complex problems that span optimization, prediction, modeling, transportation, analytics, and mapping. We are looking for individuals who are passionate about using data to solve mathematical problems and thrive in a dynamic, innovative, and collaborative environment.

    You will directly report to a Data Science Manager.

    Responsibilities:

    • Collaborate with Engineers, Product Managers, and Business Partners to frame problems with a mathematical and business context
    • Conduct exploratory data analysis to gain deeper insights into the problems
    • Develop and apply statistical, machine learning, or optimization models
    • Write code for production models and work with Software Engineers to integrate algorithms into production
    • Design and execute simulated and live experiments
    • Analyze experimental and observational data, communicate findings, and support launch decisions

    Experience:

    • M.S. or Ph.D. in Statistics, Operations Research, Mathematics, Computer Science, or related quantitative fields, or equivalent work experience
    • Over 3 years of professional experience in a technology company working on a product
    • Passion for solving complex mathematical problems
    • Comprehensive experience with data, including SQL querying, aggregation, analysis, and visualization
    • Proficiency in Python, R, or another interpreted programming language
    • Ability to collaborate and communicate effectively in problem-solving

    This role will have a hybrid in-office schedule, with Team Members expected to work from the office 3 days a week on specific weekdays. Additionally, hybrid roles offer the flexibility to work remotely for up to 4 weeks annually.

    The expected salary range for this position in New York is $28,000 - $155,000. Salaries depend on various factors, including qualifications, experience, and location, and do not include equity, bonuses, or benefits.
