- Oversee the development of legislative strategies and decision packages, advocating for funding priorities and program development.
- Supervise executive-level staff and evaluate performance, ensuring fair and transparent personnel management practices.
- Master's or bachelor's Degree in finance, social services, public administration, business administration, or a related field
- Minimum of 10 years of progressively responsible experience in a significant social services division or agency, including at least five years of experience supervising professional budget or fiscal management staff in a government setting

DSHS ALTSA Director, Management Service DivisionThe Department of Social and Health Services (DSHS), seeks a forward-thinking leader to step into the role of Director.
Directly reporting to the Assistant Secretary of the Aging and Long-Term Services Administration (ALTSA), this position is pivotal in providing strategic guidance for financial programs, policies, and practices across the state, encompassing both ALTSA and the Developmental Disability Administration (DDA).
Serving as the primary financial advisor to the Assistant Secretaries of ALTSA and DDA, the Director will oversee critical functions including budgeting, accounting, provider rates, contracts, and facility operations.
The overarching aim is to ensure the efficient and effective allocation of resources, ultimately enhancing the lives of Washingtonians by fostering choice, independence, and safety.
About the job:
The MSD Director is a key executive leader responsible for overseeing the $15.8 billion biennial budget, $10.5 billion for ALTSA and $5.3 billion for DDA, and managing a team of 67 staff members with 4 direct reports.
This role serves as the Chief Financial Officer for a significant and intricate division within the Department of Social and Health Services, one of the largest and most complex cabinet agencies.
This leadership role involves collaborating across different administrations and agencies, overseeing a range of tasks including budget requests, decision packages, fiscal notes driven by legislation, rates development, facilities planning, contracts and procurements, internal controls, and audit oversight for Federal grants, payments, and dispersals specifically for ALTSA/DDA.
To fulfill these tasks, the MSD Director establishes strong working relationships with partners across the administration, including the DSHS Cabinet, the Office of Financial Management, legislative fiscal committee staff, advocate groups, and provider associations.
