    Description


    Collins is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Structural Design Project Engineer to play a key role on our team in Norwood, MA.

    The ideal candidate will have experience in structural design and analysis of transportation related structures.

    This position requires the ability to lead assigned tasks and projects, liaise with clients and government agencies, and perform structural design and load rating with opportunities for inspection.

    SUMMARY
    The Project Engineer I contributes technical expertise to the successful execution of projects by performing the following duties.

    TYPICAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
    include the following. Other duties may be assigned.


    Provides technical engineering information to Project Manager to ensure the project complies with all engineering standards, codes, specifications, and design instructions.

    Reviews, analyzes, and provides recommendations on-field and/or design issues.

    Independently performs moderately difficult engineering computations involving conventional engineering practices.

    Prepares complete engineering plans or reports.

    Uses computer-assisted engineering and design software and equipment to prepare engineering and design documents.

    Keeps Project Manager informed of workload and any changes in project scope or additional services.

    Is active in technical societies.

    Responsible for small to moderately difficult projects from inception to completion

    Has limited communication with clients.

    Is available to attend meetings or events outside of normal working hours.

    Directs and supervises the work of entry-level engineers, technicians, drafters, and administrative staff

    Actively observes and acts in an appropriate manner related to safety.

    Qualifications
    EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

    Bachelor's degree and/or master's degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited four-year university.

    2 years experience or the equivalent thereof.

    Experience in the design and analysis of transportation structures required.

    Experience with MassDOT, RIDOT, NHDOT, Massport and MBTA standards and procedures preferred.


    Experience with AASHTOWare BrR and BrD, CSI Bridge, STAAD, OpenBridge, LEAP and PGSuper and other related design and analysis software preferred.

    Experience with AASHTO and/or AREMA specifications preferred.

    Experience with drafting using AutoCAD or MicroStation preferred.

    CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

    Engineer-In-Training (E.I.T.) or Professional Engineer (P.E.)

    Valid driver's license
