Description
Job Overview:
Personnel in this position provide engineering and project managementexpertise for the Hydropower Section within the State Water Projects Bureau by working with staff to identify needed capital upgrades, performing engineering evaluations, working with consultants to design the upgrades, and contractors to implement the upgrades.
Documentation of all activities must be maintained. This position requires licensure as a Montana Professional Engineer. Engineering disciplines inherent to the position may include electrical, mechanical, civil, structural, geotechnical, and economics. Experience in contracting, construction oversight, and technical writing is preferred.Knowledge in these disciplines is used to identify operational and safety issues, develop alternatives, define design objectives, negotiate contracts, manage engineering design consultants, and manage construction contractors.
State Water Project's design work requires a strong engineering background including formal education, specialized training, and design experience specifically related to hydropower and dams.
Designs require a creative, customized approach because each circumstance is unique.The above job functions are the essential duties of the position and are not all-inclusive of duties that may be assigned to the incumbent .
