Position Overview:
Reporting to the Manufacturing Engineering Manager, the Process Improvement & Reliability Engineer plays a pivotal role in driving manufacturing process enhancements to achieve new performance benchmarks.
Responsibilities:
Execute assigned process improvement projects in alignment with site priorities
Support the development and implementation of capital projects by collecting, developing, and analyzing technical information and data
Act as the primary point of contact for diagnosing and troubleshooting site process-related issues
Implement corrective actions related to safety and process, in accordance with site priorities and the Management of Change (MOC) process
Develop a comprehensive understanding of factors impacting processes, products, and equipment reliability, including environmental impacts
Identify performance gaps and implement equipment and process changes to address mechanical and electrical issues
Create and maintain procedures in accordance with Operational Excellence Management System (OEMS) standards
Utilize project management skills to oversee simultaneous improvement projects
Analyze problems and implement solutions using critical thinking skills and focused improvement methods
Employ creative thinking to identify unique approaches to improve quality and consistency
Collaborate closely with maintenance, Center of Excellence (COE), and other plant teams to develop consistent solutions applicable company-wide
Contribute to the plant safety program and serve as a key contact for Regional Continuous Improvement (CI) resources on improvement initiatives
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Engineering
3-5 years of manufacturing experience, preferably in the wood or paper industry
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment, work under pressure, and meet deadlines; willingness to respond to after-hour calls regarding processes and equipment
Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
Preferred
Qualifications:
Prior experience with LEAN manufacturing, Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA), Process Hazards Analysis (PHA), and/or Process Control Systems
Experience in analyzing, estimating, and planning capital expenditures
Familiarity with heavy industrial equipment
Industrial experience in continuous flow processes or similar industries requiring work outage planning
Working Conditions:
Ability to work in outdoor environments and tolerate temperatures ranging from above 100 degrees to below 32 degrees Fahrenheit
Comfortable working in hot, humid, cold, and noisy industrial environments
Adherence to strict safety rules and regulations, including wearing safety equipment
Physical Requirements:
Ability to perform tasks such as lifting, walking, climbing, stooping, standing, pushing, and/or pulling for up to twelve (12) hours a day
Comfortable working around moving equipment and machinery
Capable of lifting and pulling loads up to 50 lbs.
Ability to safely and successfully perform essential job functions consistent with ADA, FMLA, and other federal, state, and local standards, including meeting productivity standards.
