Review the drawings and ensure correctness before the start of fabrication.
Manage the foreman and people in the project to make sure targets are met.
Report back daily progress to the project manager.
Plan daily production activities, consumable requirements, and manpowerPlan and inform the logistics department/coordinators on material movement, crane requirements, etc. well in advance.
Report any shortages in drawing, material, or labor consumables affecting the production progressAsses the overtime requirement and request accordinglyConduct daily Toolbox talks with the team.
Coordinate with other departments to avoid any clash of activities.Plan for material in advance and follow up with coordinators for the material.
Training of people in reading drawings, marking, new fabricationtechniques, and shipbuilding standards and thereby developing local skills.
Ensure overall production quality is maintained as per IACS standardImplement innovative methods and techniques in productionTeam buildingIdentify the strengths and weaknesses of the team and take necessary corrective actions to improve.
Ensure all safety practices are followed during project executionEncourage the team members and support them to achieve the targetsResponsible for managing the project's local store.
Ensure housekeeping is followed at the worksiteCoordinate launching activitiesInvolve in sea trials Requirements Diploma in Mechanical EngineeringHands-on experience – 8-10 years in executing shipbuilding projectsfor both steel and aluminum on the shop floor.
Knowledge and proficiency in MS Office productsKnowledge of rules and regulations and practices in the shipbuilding industryKnowledge of ship construction in both steel and aluminumCommunication Skills in English both reading and writingAbility to lead a team independently from the start to completion of the project
