    Description

    Duties:

    • When assigned to perform the more skilled duties: prepare salads and salad dressings; clean and prepare
    vegetables; prepare routine desserts and .


    • Fill out and file diet cards for new diet prescriptions for patients; order special items on new cards; call nursing
    units for cancels, dismissals, hold trays, and transfers on special diets.


    • Serve food and drinks in cafeteria; serve customers; mark meal tickets; clean coffee pots, grill, counter, and
    cafeteria tables; prepare coffee, toast, eggs, and sandwiches; mix juice and prepare special baby formula.


    • Set up and serve special dinners; push loaded food carts from kitchen to units or dining hall, returning them to
    kitchen after meals; operate dishwashing machine; wash pots and pans.


    • Serve on the tray line preparing trays for serving patients or wards as necessary; may unload, lift, and carry
    foodstuffs from trucks and warehouse, placing items in designated areas; may sweep and mop floors.


    • Fill in for other food service workers as necessary.
    • When serving in a lead capacity: observe and inspect the work of Food Service Workers involved in the
    preparation and serving of food and clean up activities, ensuring adherence to safety and sanitation regulations and
    practices, and verifying work is accomplished properly and efficiently.


    • Provide technical supervision and guidance to improve the quality and quantity of work performed by Food Service
    Workers; assist in on-the-job training of Food Service Workers in a variety of assignments.


    • Check work in progress and upon completion, ensuring Food Service Workers are following daily time schedules;
    fill in job completion charts at end of assigned shift.


    • Assist in the supervision of tray line workers preparing food trays for patients or wards; ensure accuracy of diet
    and proper apportioning, appearance and arrangement of food on trays.


    • Obtain and record temperature of food and food lowerators, ensuring proper temperature controls in the
    transportation of food.


    • Perform Food Service Worker duties as necessary; may prepare and submit documented incident reports.

    Skills:

    Knowledge of:
    The methods, practices, utensils, and equipment used in serving food and clean-up activities (e.g., food and dish carts and dishwashers); the techniques, safety precautions handling and maintaining cleanliness of kitchen and food serving areas and equipment; occupational hazards and mixing, and measuring foodstuff used in preparing food; sanitation methods and practices associated with food utensils, knives, and equipment used for chopping, slicing,

    6 -HRS: 12:30PM - 900 PM - 5/8'S - Riverside County issued Food Handler card is required


    WORK WEEK:

    Education:
    Graduation from or attainment of a satisfactory score on a G.E.D. test.
