    Enterprise Cloud Services Administrator (ITSAJ/ETS) - Internal

    This recruitment is open to internal HCA applicants only.

    This position provides and oversees infrastructure operations for the agency in a cloud hybrid environment.

    This individual develops and implements workflows and scripting, utilizes infrastructure-as-code development and deployment platforms, and engages with Microsoft and AWS servers.

    The ideal candidate will be highly competent with cloud computing and collaborative with a highly skilled operations team to ensure operations are smooth throughout the agency.


    About the unit:
    The Enterprise Technology Services (ETS) division is the agency's technology provider for the Health Care Authority.

    The Enterprise System Services (ESS) section within ETS is responsible for designing, developing, and operationalizing most enterprise infrastructure components involving hybrid cloud servers, storage, backups, applications, and end-user environments to guarantee the availability, functionality and security of IT services directly supporting current and future business requirements internally and externally to the agency.


    About the position:


    This journey-level Enterprise Cloud Services Administrator position provides operational support and maintenance to the agency's hybrid cloud environment which is comprised of two on-premises Hyper-V clusters and AWS Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) components.

    This position also independently develops, configures and/or implements AWS IaaS components using a variety of infrastructure-as-code development and deployment platforms.

    This position is eligible to telework part-time but may be required to report on-site to meet business needs.

    The default assigned work location of all Health Care Authority (HCA) positions - both on-site and telework eligible positions - is within the State of Washington.

    Frequency of onsite work will vary based on business and operational needs. HCA may choose, but is not required, to support out-of-state telework on a case-by-case basis.

    Some of what you will do:

    Enterprise Cloud Services Operations


    • System and design
    • Performs system design in accordance with predefined standards.
    • Performs capacity planning in accordance with system utilization requirements.
    • Server management
    • Builds and configures server, storage, and DBMS instances.
    • Configures network connectivity of on-premises and cloud resources.
    • Performs system updates and software patch management.
    • Performs system tuning and troubleshooting.
    • Configures and monitors system and/or resource tagging.
    • Configures and maintains auto-scaling groups.
    • Performs system monitoring using appropriate tools.
    • Backup and Recovery
    • Develops and maintains backup automation scripts/policies.
    • Creates and manage backup system snapshots.
    • Performs system and data restorations using predefined disaster recovery processes/procedures.
    • Provides test results and status reports on disaster recovery processes/procedures.
    • Manages infrastructure lifecycle operations
    • Participates in physical and cloud infrastructure lifecycle planning and leads assigned refreshed projects including equipment acquisition and decommissioning.
    • Support AWS accounts and permissions design planning.
    • Virtual server image management
    • Maintains on-premises virtual server images.
    Enterprise Cloud Services Administrator


    • Server management
    • Configures servers for network access and perform connectivity testing to ensure servers are recognized by the network.
    • Maintain server hardware and software assets in compliance with application requirements.
    • Implement capacity planning and tuning activities for server assets.
    • Perform server maintenance.
    • Verify server has latest security patches to the OS and any resident applications.
    • Verify server is within operating capacity and take corrective action when necessary.
    • Documentation
    • Maintain and ensure server documentation for accuracy.
    • Develop and maintain server functions check documentation.
    • Operations
    • Respond to incident management practices as they arise.

    Required qualifications:
    Qualifying candidates will meet one of the following criteria options:


    Option 1:

    • Bachelor's degree or higher in computer science, information technology (IT), or closely related field AND
    • Four (4) years of recent professional experience in information technology performing systems analysis, system maintenance, or troubleshooting/problem resolution experience, AND
    • Two (2) years of experience using code/scripts to administer core system/services including accounts/permissions, computing hypervisors, operating systems (OS) management, and other related infrastructure services/components.

    Option 2:

    • Associate degree in a field identified above,
    • Six (6) years of recent professional experience in information technology performing systems analysis, system maintenance, or troubleshooting/problem resolution experience, AND
    • Two (2) years of experience using code/scripts to administer core system/services including accounts/permissions, computing hypervisors, operating systems (OS) management, and other related infrastructure services/components.

    Option 3:

    • Eight (8) years of recent professional experience in information technology performing systems analysis, system maintenance, or troubleshooting/problem resolution experience, AND
    • Two (2) years of experience using code/scripts to administer core system/services including accounts/permissions, computing hypervisors, operating systems (OS) management, and other related infrastructure services/components.

    Option 4:

    • Three years as an Entry level IT professional in state service.

    Preferred qualifications:
    AWS and Microsoft Azure certifications
