- Develop robust contract strategies for projects in co-ordination with the Projects team covering the life cycle of a project from scoping, through pre-feasibility, feasibility, execution, close-out and transfer to Operations
- Develop, coordinate and evaluate tender packages for Works, Capital Equipment and services
- Negotiate contract terms and conditions, to support project schedule and budget
- Conduct sourcing activities in accordance with established Project Controls and Contracts and Procurement policies and procedures
- Develop well written, well-structured procurement documentation as well as contracts that supports the project requirements
- Manage contractor and vendor compliance with contract obligations and where necessary develop and implement strategies to address deficient performance
- Proactive performance and relationship management as well as dispute avoidance. Where necessary, dispute resolution including claims assessment and development of resolution strategy
- Providing training in contract awareness to project teams
- Identify and maximize cost saving opportunities
- Provide reports, analyses and advice to support procurement decision-making
- Identify and evaluate key risks at a contract formation and seek input from other functions as appropriate (e.g. technical, legal etc.)
- Maintain and update procurement records and generate reports on procurement and contract activity to meet organizational compliance requirements and provide access to procurement information
- Contract administration to support execution, including correspondence and contract notices and claims assessment
- Work as part of the team to deliver value through competitive sourcing and effective contract management
- Other duties as assigned
- 15+ years' experience in Contracts within renewable, mining or similar heavy industries preferred
- Ability to effectively prioritize and work in a fast-paced environment across multiple packages
- High level written skills with excellent attention to detail
- Extremely well developed analytical, research and problem-solving skills
- Bachelor's degree in commerce, business, law, or construction desirable
- Language skills – English, Spanish and Portuguese desirable
- Team player

- Respectful manner with others
- Understands the importance of stakeholder relationships and can engage effectively with engineers, legal, quality management, project controls and logistics to co-ordinate and ensure contractual delivery parameters are met

Our Opportunity
The primary purpose of this role is to be the Contracts & Procurement (C&P) lead responsible for leading a team managing the contracts process for Fortescue across a particular project in the North American region including developing contract strategies, tenders, contract execution, delivery and close out.
