    ABOUT THE JOB


    Gentex provides the Department of Defense (DoD) with flight critical safety equipment such as helmets as well as hearing, respiratory and optical protection that enhance situational awareness for aircrew.

    Gentex Corporation is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Program Manager to oversee the execution of complex programs in accordance with research and development best practices.

    The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of successfully managing large-scale DoD projects, demonstrating strong leadership, strategic planning, and problem-solving abilities.

    Requirements





    EDUCATION:


    • Typically requires a Master's degree in engineering, science or a related technical field as well as thirteen or more years of progressively complex program administration experience with at least 7 of those years managing programs.




    EXPERIENCE:



    • Program Management Certification from the Defense Acquisition University (DAU) or Project Management Institute (PMI) is preferred.
    • Proven experience managing complex programs in accordance with DoD Instruction
    • Strong understanding of program management principles, methodologies, and best practices.
    • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build consensus and resolve conflicts.
    • Demonstrated ability to think strategically, prioritize tasks, and make sound decisions in a fast-paced environment.
    • Proficiency in project management tools and software.

    DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:


    Program Management:

    Lead the planning, execution, and oversight of complex programs in compliance with Gentex New Product Development processes and DoD Instruction , ensuring adherence to budgetary, schedule, and performance requirements.

    The ideal candidate will have experience in managing the maturation of prototypes through the technology readiness levels, from concept demonstration to system integration testing and ultimately production/deployment (product launch).


    Strategic Planning:
    Develop and implement strategic plans to achieve program objectives, including defining scope, milestones, and the allocation of resources.

    Stakeholder Engagement:

    Foster strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including government agencies, subcontractors, and cross-functional teams, to facilitate effective communication and collaboration.


    Schedule Management:

    Develop and maintain program schedules, identify critical path activities, and implement schedule optimization strategies to ensure on-time delivery of program milestones.


    Risk Management:
    Identify potential risks and opportunities, develop mitigation and exploitation strategies, and monitor risk exposure throughout the program lifecycle.

    Financial Management:
    Monitor program budgets, track expenditures, and provide regular financial reports to stakeholders, ensuring cost-effective utilization of resources.

    Quality Assurance:

    Establish and maintain rigorous quality standards throughout the program lifecycle, conducting regular reviews and implementing corrective actions as needed.


    Contract Compliance:
    Ensure compliance with DoD contract requirements, including reporting, documentation, and regulatory standards.

    Vendor and Supplier Management:

    Manage relationships with multiple vendors and suppliers to ensure customer requirements are met, including negotiating contracts/agreements, monitoring vendor performance, and resolving issues.


    Team Leadership:
    Provide strong leadership and guidance to program team members, fostering a culture of accountability, innovation, and continuous improvement.

    Performance Evaluation:
    Conduct performance reviews, provide feedback, and support professional development opportunities for team members to enhance skills and capabilities.

    Proposal Preparation:

    Lead proposal preparation activities, including coordinating with internal teams and external partners, developing proposal strategies, and ensuring compliance with customer requirements.


    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:


    • Demonstrates technical expertise and application of program management principles, concepts, and practice as well as program management and leadership skills including organizing, planning, scheduling, and coordinating workloads to meet established deadlines or milestones
    • Strong communication, leadership, presentation, and interpersonal skills are required to enable an effective interface with other departments, all levels of management, professional and support staff, customers, potential customers, and government representatives.
    • Comprehensive knowledge and mastery of department of defense weapon system programs and missions to determine how they relate to and impact other programs and costs of other federal agencies.
    • Knowledge of expert quantitative techniques and methods used to develop, adapt, modify, and apply models to resolve problems or define and clarify alternative solutions.
    • Ability to participate in study teams, originate new ideas, projects and methodologies; and execute projects and/or studies within established financial and/or time constraints.
    • A very high degree of skill in analyzing and comparing alternative cost-benefit trade-offs in order to determine the most proper and prudent method of accomplishing desired Air Force objective. With minimal direction, has the ability to evaluate existing cost models and develop new mathematically derived parametric cost models for use in performing cost and risk analysis.
    • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, to justify, defend, present, and/or advise on cost estimating processes, products and actions.
    • Ability to establish effective professional working relationships with management, program managers, coworkers and customers, contributing to a cooperative work environment and successful accomplishment of the mission.
