    Our mission is to provide compassionate consulting services to local, state, federal and industry clients, active in disaster response, recovery, and preparedness. We will be on time, on target, and on budget with the services aligned to the evolving threats and hazards facing our nation.

    The Emergency Management Intern will will support all emergency management functions of ACDC by assisting their supervisor and/or Peer Mentor in organizational operations related to the recovery division functions. Interns will participate in cross-training opportunities within ACDC's various Divisions, which may include preparedness, planning, resilience and mitigation, disaster grant management, response operations, Homeland Security, critical infrastructure, and more. Interns are expected to participate in professional development activities including trainings, meetings with leadership, policy research, and related. Each Emergency Management Intern will have a specific work portfolio based on skills sets and desired expertise of that individual.

    The position will be guided by ACDC's Corporate Values Platform in all activities.

    • Compensation: $18/hour
    • Travel/Location: Remote

    Tasks, Duties, and Responsibilities

    • This internship will provide a mix of exposure to emergency management recovery operations and strategy, including project management processes, planning, public assistance and grant management as available/needed.
    • Work on projects that have a real impact on clients if available/needed.
    • Interns will be given the opportunity for shadowing experiences and exposure to various divisions and projects as available.
    • In limited circumstances, Interns may be asked to assist in matters related to research and development, project management/administration, or other corporate operations.
    • Perform other duties as assigned.

    • Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and written.

    • Excellent critical thinking, strategic planning, and problem-solving skills, including a qualitative and quantitative skill set.
    • Highly organized and detail oriented.
    • Strong time management skills.
    • Strong desire to help people.
    • Ability to remain flexible and adapt quickly to changes in roles and projects.

    Requirements

    Experience and Education Required

    • Currently enrolled in a bachelor degree program (or recently graduated within the past year) for Emergency Management or a specialize function of Emergency Management at an accredited university, college, or other educational facility.
    • 0-2+ years' beginner level knowledge/experience in emergency management principles.
    • Current GPA of 3.0 or higher.
    • Proficient in Microsoft Office 365, particularly Excel.

    Experience and Education Preferred

    • 2+ years completed in emergency management studies.
    • 1+ years of customer service-related experience.
    • 1 year of previous emergency management related internship, volunteering, or work experience with FEMA or other emergency management firm.

    Supervisory Responsibilities

    The Internship position has no direct supervisory responsibility.

    Expected Hours of Work

    Schedule may vary and require work on evenings and weekends and dependability and punctuality are paramount.

    Physical Demands

    • Sitting or standing for hours at a time.
    • Ability to work at a computer for prolonged periods of time if needed.

    Work Environment

    • The internship is considered 100% remote, or work from home.

    Additional Qualifications

    • Must be 18 years of age or older.
    • Must pass company and any applicable client background check and reference check upon offer of employment.
    • Eligibility to work in the United States is required.

    Benefits
