Description
Research Analyst
Do you love to research medical data? Responsible for conducting thorough review of death records maintained by the Medical Examiner's Office and police reports maintained by local police departments and sheriff's offices, for the purpose of extracting data elements for federal grants awarded to the Violence and Injury Prevention Program.
This job will include performing data entry into large databases, reviewing and analyzing police reports and death reports and coordinating abstraction schedules with the various agencies as well as the VIPP abstraction team.

Retirement - Utah Retirement Systems (URS)
:
Employees who have any service credit with an employer covered by the Utah Retirement Systems prior to 7/1/2011 are in the Tier I Public Employees System.
Employees hired on or after 7/1/2011 and who have never been in the URS retirement system have two options for retirement in the Tier II System.
Tier 2 Defined Contribution Plan. Employer contributes an amount equal to 10% of your salary to a 401(k) plan only.
Employer contributions to your 401(k) are vested after four years.
Paid Time Off

Annual leave and sick leave are accrued at 4 hours per pay period each (4 hours annual, 4 hours sick).

click here . Principal Duties
As the Injury Research Analyst you will:
Coordinating with the medical examiner's office to conduct onsite data abstractions from health records, police reports, and death records
Accurately enters abstracted records into large databases and retrieves or corrects previously entered data
Collaborating with abstraction team to coordinate priorities in data abstractions to meet state and federal requirements
Assist with other data collection projects as needed
Maintains accurate records, logs, and confidentiality of protected health information
The Ideal Candidate
Has knowledge of and ability to abstract medical records.
Has good communication and interpersonal skills
Has the ability to use data entry systems and input data online.
Has a knowledge of and ability to code data using ICD10 and ICD9 codes.
Has a knowledge of public health principles.
Preference
May be given to applicants with a medical coding certification (e.g., Registered Health Information Technician, Certified Coding Specialist, etc.).
Working Conditions:
The typical office setting for this job is adequately lighted, heated and ventilated.
However, you may encounter some risks that are associated with any office setting, for example, the safe use of office equipment, avoiding trips and falls, observing fire regulations, etc.
Standard Schedule:Monday - Friday, 8:
00 am to 5:
00 pm
This position is currently a hybrid of both in-office and remote work days.
Please note, a position's eligibility for remote work is established by agency management and is subject to change at their discretion at any time and for any reason.
Physical Requirements:
Typically, the employee may sit comfortably to perform the work; however, there may be some walking; standing; bending; carrying light items; driving an automobile, etc.
