ROLE IN A NUTSHELL

A Line Cook is responsible for preparing and cooking food at a specific station, while also maintaining a tidy kitchen and well-stocked inventory.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES include but not limited to:

Thorough knowledge of the restaurant's menu and beverage selection
Understanding and adherence to food safety regulations and proper handling procedures
Mastery of cooking techniques, quality standards, and kitchen protocols
Consistent compliance with portion sizes, recipes, and kitchen rules
Preparation of various food items for cooking using different kitchen equipment
Ensuring proper plate presentation and garnishing of dishes
Keeping line stations well-stocked for seamless service
Assisting with food prep during slower periods
Proper handling and rotation of food products
Opening/closing duties and maintaining cleanliness of workstation
Readiness to support smooth restaurant operations as directed
Fostering a positive work environment through effective communication and teamwork
Demonstrating excellent customer service and remaining composed under pressure
Delivering exceptional hospitality to guests

Requirements:

QUALIFICATIONS

To excel in this role, candidates must demonstrate high proficiency in all essential functions. Additionally, candidates should possess multitasking abilities, strong communication skills, a positive attitude, and a solid work ethic. Flexibility to work various shifts is essential. The following qualifications are necessary: legal eligibility to work in the US, minimum age of 18 years.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Minimum of 2 years' experience in a high-volume, upscale dining establishment. A culinary degree is preferred.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Proficiency in reading and interpreting safety guidelines, manuals, and communicating effectively with colleagues.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Basic math skills required for inventory management, recipe preparation, and order processing.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to follow instructions and tackle problems logically.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

Maintaining necessary certifications and licenses, including a Food Handler Card, as per local laws. Must be obtained upon hiring.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

The job requires long periods of standing, occasional walking, and manual dexterity. Lifting up to 50 pounds individually or 75 pounds in a team. Specific vision abilities needed.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Working mainly in a kitchen setting with moderate to loud noise levels. Flexible schedule with evenings, weekends, and holidays. Exposure to various environmental conditions.
