    Primary Purpose

    Serve as a resource to students for the COCC music lab.

    Lab attendants are responsible for overseeing the lab during open lab hours, insuring the safety and security of the equipment and assisting students with questions regarding computer hardware and music software.

    Essenatial Duties and Responsibilities

    Provide friendly information and assistance to all students, faculty, staff and guests.

    Assists lab patrons with use of computer software programs

    Communicate effectively both orally and in writing

    Able to follow lab procedures and established work orders

    Maintain security and educational atmosphere of the lab

    Assist in the cleaning of the lab and general facility maintenance

    Basic knowledge of computers

    Basic knowledge of COCC Accounts and appropriate music software

    Willingness to complete all assignments and trainings

    Performs other duties as assigned that support the overall objective of the position.

    The individual is expected to follow College work rules and policies.

    Knowledge in the field of music.


    Skill in the operation of standard office equipment, software systems, internet searches, Microsoft applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) and systems or software unique to the assigned area.

    Knowledge of general College and departmental procedures and inter-relationship between the various agencies.

    Skill in providing customer service to a diverse audience through a variety of methods.

    Skill in problem-solving, multi-tasking, and time management.

    Ability to perform responsible clerical and administrative duties with accuracy.

    Ability to provide technical guidance to customers, students, staff, and general public.

    Ability to compose correspondence with only general instructions.


    Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, using English language with or without the use of auxiliary aids or an interpreter.

    Ability to develop cooperative working relationships with people from different cultural backgrounds and other aspects of human diversity.

    Ergonomic Requirements

    Work hours are determined by the supervisor and vary based on scheduled course times. Position assignments may be assigned an alternate schedule to service the campus needs. Work is performed typically indoors in a lab setting environment, engaged in work of primarily a sedentary nature. Requires the ability to sit or stand at workstation for extended periods.

    While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, use hands and fingers, handle or feel objects, tools or controls, reach with hands and arms.

    Requires near visual acuity to read written materials, write and read computer screens. Requires sufficient hearing and speech ability, for ordinary telephonic conversations. Occasional lifting up to 25lbs. All individuals are required to perform essential functions with or without reasonable accommodation.

    Minimum Requirements

    High School Diploma or equivalent

    Preferred Qualifications

    Students who are majoring in music, preferably having completed first year theory

    Students have general familiarity with music software and piano skills
