    Description

    Thermal Engineering Manager - Mix of Technical and Management work

    I'm currently seeking a Thermal Engineering Manager to join a fast-growing Space company who are a pioneer in Satellite development

    Responsibilities:

    • Manage and collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to reduce risks by identifying the constraining elements of the thermal design and recommend mitigation strategies from concept level to design, prototyping, production, testing, and launch integration
    • Assistance in creating and peer reviewing thermal models of active and passive thermal designs using a mixture of numerical solutions and hand calculations of spacecraft systems, subsystems, avionics, and mechanisms that predict temperature margins in a variety of thermal space environments
    • Oversight on thermal testing activities from start to finish, including but not limited to obtaining quotations from the test house, planning logistics if the test with the test house if testing is outsourcing, designing, test fixtures, assessment of tools and hardware required for each test.
    • Providing assistance in developing test plans, procedures, and reports for thermal analyses and thermal tests, including but not limited to TVAC, ambient-pressure, life, and endurance testing
    • Participate in team discussions involving vehicle arrangement and design analysis for ongoing and future projects
    • Design and analyze testing fixtures suitable for conducting mechanical tests
    • Providing presentations, reports, summary and status updates to upper management on a weekly basis

    Experience Required:

    • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, or equivalent degree required
    • Minimum of 10 years of direct industry experience
    • Minimum of 5 years of experience in managing engineering teams (Ideally Thermal)
    • Strong and influential leader who has proven history leading teams
    • Familiarity with Thermal Desktop and Sinda
    • Must possess deep understanding of the principles of radiation and conduction heat transfer in conjunction with space environment heating effects and parameters associated with spaceflight applications
    • Proven knowledge of spacecraft mission design and associated subsystems including but not limited to spacecraft thermal management solution and thermo-optical surface treatments
    • Knowledge of environmental requirements, engineering, thermal vacuum/ambient pressure testing, and hands-on engineering project experience, including use of data acquisition systems
    • Deep knowledge of launch vehicle loads and requirements and implications on spacecraft systems and subsystems
    • Experience with SolidWorks or other equivalent CAD software
