JOB SUMMARYAs a Header Operator you will be responsible for maintaining a safe work environment, performing preventive maintenance, conducting quality checks, completing support tasks, and actively monitoring work quality for continuous improvement.

REPORTING TOProduction ManagerESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONSSet up and operate cold heading machines to efficiently produce fasteners for regular, new, special, and experimental jobs, ensuring adherence to production schedules and quality standards.

Maintain a safe work environment by following all safety procedures and regulations, practicing safe work habits, and identifying and reporting potential hazards.

Upkeep equipment and workspace by performing preventive maintenance tasks like lubrication, keeping the machine clean and organized, and making minor repairs when necessary.

Contribute to process optimization by completing First Piece Inspections and ongoing quality checks using established gauges and procedures, identifying and reporting any deviations from quality standards.

Perform various support tasks including counting, cleaning, returning gauges and fixtures, transferring parts, and assembling tooling for upcoming jobs.

Take ownership of work quality by actively monitoring output, identifying and promptly addressing any inconsistencies, and continuously seeking improvement opportunities.

SKILLS and ABILITIESCapable of using measuring instruments such as micrometers, calipers, height gauges, etc.

Ability to read and write, perform basic arithmetic, and follow verbal and written instructionsEDUCATION and EXPERIENCEHigh School Diploma/GED or equivalent.

Experience with Waterbury and/or Hartford brand equipment/machines.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTSWork involves frequent lifting of materials and product up to 30 pounds and seldom lifting to 50lbs. Frequent use of hands and fingers to handle and/or adjust equipment. Moderate reaching, pushing, pulling, gripping and grasping.

Machinery operation requires the use of safety equipment to include but not limited to safety glasses, hearing protection, and steel toed work boots or shoes.
