    Reports To: Athletic Trainer

    Position Summary:

    Under direction of a Head Athletic Trainer, the Assistant Athletic Trainer oversees the physical evaluation and treatment of student athletes to maintain maximum physical fitness and participation in athletic competition. They provide support to student athletes engaged in high-impact, high-intensity and/or large sports.

    Most of the athletics training responsibilities take place after the school day; as a result, the Athletic Trainer will have an additional set of responsibilities serving the needs of the Athletic Department and other school departments to round out their full-time status.

    Duties and responsibilities include:

    • Directs the athletic training program to include physical evaluation and treatment services to student athletes in high-impact, high-intensity and/or large sports prone to extensive and/or chronic injury; provides a comprehensive range of care, including operation of therapeutic devices and equipment, first aid application, customized fitness/nutrition/conditioning plans, and rehabilitation and medical referrals.
    • Collaborates with coaching staff in developing conditioning, rehabilitation, weight training and nutrition programs for athletes. Advises coaching staff as to daily medical status of injured players.
    • Provides medical coverage for all home athletic contests and practices.
    • Serves as a liaison between physicians, administrators, coaches, parents, and student athletes regarding injury prevention, diagnosis, care, management, treatment, rehabilitation and claim submission.
    • Oversees daily management of training room, maintaining medical files, inventorying supplies and equipment, and scheduling follow-up appointments with medical providers, diagnostic testing, and professional consultations.
    • Serves as on-site administrator during contests in absence of athletic director or other administrator as needed.
    • Oversees safety factors of athletic competition by ensuring elimination of undue hazards.
    • Knowledge of supplies, equipment, and/or services ordering and inventory control.
    • Compliance with all OHSAA rules and regulations
    • Provide first aid and medical assessments to students and other community members at Laurel's Butler campus.
    • Other duties as assigned, which may include assisting the Director of Athletics with departmental responsibilities. Required Qualifications:

      The successful candidate must have a bachelor's degree in Athletic Training, be certified by NATABOC and be licensed in the State of Ohio. A State of Ohio Athletic Trainers Practice Board License must be maintained. Additional qualifications should include:

      • CPR/AED certification
      • Ability to work collaboratively with physicians and other health providers
      • Knowledge and understanding of HIPAA laws and ability to maintain high level of confidentiality and use sound judgment
      • Strong interpersonal skills
      • The position will require the successful candidate to obtain and maintain a non-tax certification from the state of Ohio. To Apply:
