    Position Summary

    At Mercury, members of the Product Management team are responsible for driving profitable growth in their assigned states and line of business. As a Sr. Product Analyst on the Commercial Product team, you play a vital role in making our products (Business Auto, Commercial Multi-Peril, Commercial Umbrella) grow profitably. Combining problem solving and analytical skills, you will provide data-driven insights to influence strategies and drive initiatives.

    Essential Job Functions
    • Monitors and analyzes product performance to identify issues, make recommendations, and implement changes to achieve profitable growth.
    • Develops and enhances reports and tools to support better decision making. Performs ad hoc analyses to understand emerging business issues. Incorporates best practices in data retrieval and data integrity to all work products.
    • Investigates potential improvements to the product offering. Analyzes new rating variables and methodologies to determine prediction performance, loss ratio improvement, and segmentation.
    • Socializes analyses with functional partners to incorporate business perspectives and context. Delivers reports and presentations to summarize analyses and recommend further action.
    • Assumes project ownership and coordinates with functional partners to drive projects to completion. Develops a project plan that incorporates business objectives, resources, and timelines. Manages multiple initiatives and timelines effectively.
    • Coaches, mentors, and develops less experienced Product Analysts as needed.
    • Other functions may be assigned.
    Education
    • Bachelor's degree in Business, Math, Economics, Finance, Statistics, Actuarial Science, or related field of study is required.
    • Master's degree in Business, Math, Economics, Finance, Statistics, Actuarial Science, or related field of study is preferred.
    • Actuarial exams and designations (ACAS, FCAS, CERA) are preferred.
    Experience
    • 5+ years of product management, product development and/or analytical experience in insurance, financial services, consulting, or similar industry are required.
    • 5+ years of property and casualty insurance experience with product, pricing, underwriting, and insurance regulation knowledge are preferred.
    • 2+ years of commercial property and casualty insurance experience with product, pricing, underwriting, and insurance regulation knowledge are preferred.
    • Experience in data visualization and reporting using tools such as Power BI, Tableau, or equivalent is required.
    • Experience in data manipulation using tools such as SAS, SQL, R, Python, or equivalent is required.
    Knowledge and skills
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
    • Excellent analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
    • Proven history of taking initiative and driving projects to completion with minimal guidance.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Microsoft Power BI, and SQL.
