    Job Description

    The Supervisor of Long Term Rental Assistance is responsible for monitoring the day to day activities of the Housing Specialists as well as providing training and supervision. This position assists the Manager of Long Term Rental Assistance with training, guidance and leadership of the Housing Specialists. Additionally, this position works to help meet program goals and objectives in cooperation with EDEN staff, community agency staff, landlords, and participants.


    ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS


    1. Provides day-to-day supervision and training for the Housing Specialists.
    2. Develops and implements program policies and procedures for the agency subsidies.
    3. Ensures compliance with rental subsidy program guidelines.
    4. Assures that rental subsidy services are delivered in a manner consistent with all federal, state, and local rules and regulations.
    5. Handles sensitive communication with social service agencies/landlords/tenants regarding matters pertaining to the application process, matters of tenancy, and complaint calls.
    6. Assists staff with problem solving in cases where participants are at risk of becoming homeless.
    7. Provides Housing Specialists with guidance in handling difficult or complex problems or in resolving escalated complaints or disputes.
    8. Participates in the work of subordinates when necessary to ensure timeliness, for example: completing annual recertification interviews with eligible participants, reviewing incoming applications and processing household and income changes.
    9. Assists in completing timely, accurate reports that are required by funders.
    10. Represents agency at community meetings related to rental subsidy programs and new housing initiatives.
    11. Works with staff, tenants, landlords, and outside agencies to ensure tenants housing stability in subsidy programs.
    12. Trains the Housing Specialists in OnBase (EDEN's Paperless system), as well as participates in the ongoing development of the project.
    13. Communicates regularly to referring agencies, case managers, and EDEN's data department the status of applications using the appropriate form(s) and software programs.
    14. Reviews appeals from participants and either reinstates or denies reinstatement.
    15. Meets regularly with the Manager of Long Term Rental Assistance to inform and give updates on program information and status changes.
    16. Contributes to team efforts by assisting with other duties, as assigned.

    LEADERSHIP RESPONSIBILITIES


    1. Develops employees by providing regular feedback and performance reviews.
    2. Creates an environment of teamwork within and across agency departments and partners.
    3. Identifies clear goals and monitors progress towards achieving them, in the best interest of the agency.
    4. Possesses a comprehensive knowledge of personnel policies; is responsible for the consistent application of the policies.
    5. Provides day-to-day direction and feedback on tasks assigned to staff.
    6. Takes part in the interviewing of job candidates and provides input during the hiring process.
    7. Reviews and approves biweekly timesheets of staff supervised by this position.
    8. Reviews and approves time off requests of staff supervised by this position.

    Education and Experience

    High school diploma or equivalent and a minimum of one year of experience working with vulnerable populations are required. Some supervisory experience is preferred. Experience in the administration of housing subsidies is preferred.
