    Position Summary:
    Development in Gardening is seeking a Marketing and Communications Manager to join our global team.

    This new role for the organization will help develop and execute an integrated communications, marketing, and engagement strategy to enhance donor engagement, amplify program outcomes and elevate global awareness around DIG's mission.


    Organizational Overview:


    Development in Gardening (DIG) is an international 501(c)3 nonprofit dedicated to improving the nutrition and livelihoods of some of the world's most uniquely marginalized people by teaching them to plant regenerative gardens that grow health, wealth, and a sense of belonging.

    DIG is headquartered in Atlanta, GA with current programs growing in Kenya, Uganda, and Senegal.

    Our Core Programs (DIG's Farmer Field Schools, Priority Household Projects, and Indigenous Foods Preservation Project) are having a measurable impact on household nutrition and health, financial and climate resilience, food security and social cohesion.

    We prioritize people who are uniquely marginalized in their communities, as the barriers to their success and upward mobility are nuanced and their needs are largely unmet by other service providers.


    Responsibilities:
    Ensure the positioning of DIG, in all messaging, wholly reflects and supports its uniqueness in the


    non-profit marketplace and its long-term business strategyDevelop and implement a cohesive communications and marketing plan across current and future channels(Current channels include: website, Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, annual and quarterly reports, press releases, and newsletters)Ensure brand and voice consistency across all platforms and stakeholder groupsCommunications and marketing strategyPrioritize marketing and communication plans according to DIG's business strategyUpdate and reflect the evolution of DIG's business strategy over timeBring new, innovative ideas to communications and marketing strategiesOffer creative communication solutions to unique challenges and in crisis situations and work with key stakeholders on messagingContent strategy and managementOversee content strategy and development, including collaborating across departments to discover, craft, and amplify compelling stories that resonate with diverse audiencesProduce annual impact reports and regular newsletters, and contribute to production of donor reportsLearn relevant industry trends in DIG's field of work, e.g., agroecology, food systems, international development, food sovereignty movement, etc.

    Digital channel strategy and managementManage DIG's presence on social media, including building out a robust editorial calendar, developing posted content, and tracking metricsInterpret and present insights from social media data/analytics to drive better resultsIdentify and consider appropriate new or emergent platforms that are the right-fit for the organization to engage inMaintain DIG's digital library of assets and develop strategic plans for future asset needsMaintain DIG's website to reflect current initiatives and noteworthy achievementsManage all contributors, budgets and processes within the communications/marketing departmentLead and manage contractors, local photographers, videographers, local team contributors, designers, etc.

    Develop department budgets, evaluate results, and adjust strategies as neededMedia engagementDevelop and maintain deep relationships with key media, press, influencers, and stakeholders across outletsIdentify key moments for press engagement and craft impactful press releasesElevate DIG's image and reputation through careful messaging, visual consistency, and presence on public-facing platforms like Charity NavigatorHelp establish DIG as a thought leader by identifying opportunities to participate in international national, and local conversations on agroecology, food systems, international development, food sovereignty movement, etc.

    Support the goals of the Development DepartmentContribute to grant applications and donor reports as neededSupport with event planning from concept to executionCollaborate on corporate partnerships and donor-related marketing programs

    Desired Candidate:

    Expertise in Communication and Marketing Strategies:
    proven track record in developing and implementing communications and marketing strategies, as well as creating growth plans in these areasSkilled in Leveraging and Managing Various Social Media Platforms and WordPress Hosting SoftwareStrong Leadership and

    Organizational Skills:
    organized and capable of leading their department, managing projects, and collaborating effectively with diverse teams

    Exceptional Communicator:
    excels in written, spoken, and visual communication, viewing good communication as storytelling to drive meaningful connections. Comfortable with presenting to leadership, key stakeholders, investors, and others.

    Enjoys a Collaborative Design Approach :
    employs a collaborative design approach and demonstrates exceptional listening skills, emotional intelligence, and the ability to work well both independently and collaborativelyInterested in DIG's Mission and Field of Work:

    Work Environment:
