    Position Purpose:

    The Director, Finance & Administration, will provide customer service, budgetary, fiscal, and administrative management to Information, Technology & Consulting (ITC). Under direction of the Chief Operating Officer of ITC, this role will spearhead strategic financial management and planning to support the IT department's evolving needs. As a member of the ITC leadership group, this role provides decision support to optimize the resources available for the department's long-term goals by developing and executing financial strategies in alignment with Dartmouth's mission. The Director will also work closely with Central Finance to ensure compliance with Dartmouth and sponsor policies using knowledge of federal, grant, and Dartmouth policies and procedures.

    • Spearhead fiscal management across diverse ITC operations, ensuring compliance with institutional and federal guidelines.
    • Engage with various stakeholders, enhancing financial processes and systems that support ITC's strategic initiatives.

    Who You Are:
    • A holder of a Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field, with at least five years of experience in finance management.
    • Proficient in Financial ERPs like Oracle EBS and Hyperion, with a knack for managing complex financial projects.
    • An expert in strategic planning, with a strong ability to present complex financial information clearly and persuasively.
    • A dedicated leader, committed to fostering an inclusive work environment and promoting diversity.

    Preferred Qualifications:
    • Master's degree in Business Administration.
    • Experience in higher education or managing sponsored projects/grant management.

    Required Qualifications - Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
    • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or related field.Five years of relevant experience in finance, reporting, and budget management.
    • Comprehensive knowledge of accounting, financial reporting, strategic planning, and resource allocation.
    • Proficiency in working in Financial ERPs, such as Oracle EBS and Hyperion.Proficiency in database management, spreadsheets, and other computer software.
    • Demonstrated experience in managing complex financial projects and systems implementations.
    • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, capable of presenting complex financial information clearly and persuasively to diverse audiences.
    • Accuracy and attention to detail in all levels of work performed.
    • Ability to work effectively, independently, and as a member of a team.Ability to set and adjust priorities in a dynamic environment.
    • Proven ability to adapt to changing policies and maintain confidentiality.
    • Proven track record in managing changing policies and processes.
    • Experience handling confidential and sensitive information.
    • Proven success in staff supervision.
    • Demonstrated commitment to diversity and to serving the needs of a diverse community. |

    Strategic Financial Leadership

    • Leads the development and implementation of comprehensive budget plans, rate models, and long-range financial forecasts in collaboration with ITC leadership and the Provost's Office.
    • Designs and refines financial models and strategies for ITC services, ensuring they align with Dartmouth's overall financial policies and goals.
    • Manages financial operations, including the management of expenses and revenues across all ITC operations, including ITC Service Centers and The Computer Store, ensuring accurate billing and reconciliation adhering to Dartmouth's and any other applicable policies.
    • Establishes and maintains strong relationships with various stakeholders within and outside of ITC, including direct collaboration with other departmental directors, Central Finance offices, and the Provost's Office, representing ITC's financial interests.
    • Manages ITC's position budgets in concert with ITC leadership, HR business partners, and the Provost's Office.

    Advisory, Analysis & Consulting

    • Maintains and expands expert independent knowledge of relevant Dartmouth policies and processes.
    • Provides proactive financial analysis and advice to departments in ITC, aiding in decision-making for new projects and programs.
    • Works with colleagues to develop new knowledge, skills, and expertise.
    • Analyzes the business needs of ITC, develops, and advises on recommendations.
    • Serves as the primary financial consultant for ITC, facilitating strategic discussions and decisions related to financial planning and project funding.
    • Presents financial analysis to Central Finance and the Provost's Office, as well as stakeholders of relevant ITC projects.

    Knowledge Management and Process Improvement

    • Creates and maintains documentation for technical issues and applies knowledge to financial systems and processes.
    • Continuously assesses and improves financial processes within ITC, identifying opportunities for improvement and leading initiatives to implement changes.
    • Documents and maintains comprehensive records of financial processes and transactions, ensuring knowledge preservation and policy compliance.

    Staff Management

    • Manages accounting, procurement, and inventory staff, delegating aspects of day-to-day financial operations such as billing and report generation.
    • Works with staff to identify and support development goals and mentoring opportunities.
