- Perform basic automotive mechanic duties related to inspection, maintenance, and repair of the USMC Diesel Wheeled family of vehicles (MTVR, HMMWV, LVSR, and MRAP) which are diesel-powered vehicles with special features and controls.
- Provide technical assistance, guidance, or training to junior mechanics and assist senior mechanics. Complete other assigned tasks.
- High school graduate or equivalent.
- Four years directly related mechanical work experience.
- Complete the Automotive or Wheeled Vehicle Repair-related Course or equivalent.
- Knowledge of engines, hydraulic systems, transmission, and other vehicle parts and systems.
- Maintenance experience with generators required.
- Ability to detect faulty items, determine the cause of malfunction, and select the best repair methods.
- Ability to assemble, disassemble, repair, or modify components and systems.
- Ability to read and interpret parts lists, repair manuals, diagrams, and electrical schematics.
- Thorough understanding of the principles of operation and repairs of all components and sub-components of vehicles.
- Must be able to lift 50 pounds.
- Requires U.S. citizenship.
- Valid States Driver's License.
- Able to obtain a U.S. Government Common Access (CAC) Card.
- Must have a valid U.S. passport to start employment.
- Must be able to obtain a 'Secret' security clearance.
- Must pass a comprehensive physical examination, drug screening, and background investigation.
- Ability to follow established methods, quality standards, and time schedules.
- Working knowledge of requisitioning requirements using appropriate equipment and special tools for repairs.
