GENERAL DESCRIPTION:


Under the direction of the Park Management Team, this position is responsible for complex (journey-level) building maintenance and construction work including performing all phases in the daily operation and maintenance of park facilities, grounds, and equipment for Goose Island State Park.

Operates all types of equipment such as trucks, tractors, mowers, hand tools, and power tools. Provides quality visitor services by issuing permits, collecting revenue, providing information, and registering visitors using an automated registration system. Assists in enforcing park rules and regulations, performs resource management tasks, and interprets the parks natural resources. Completes all reports as needed. Works under general supervision, with moderate latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment. Performs additional duties as assigned. Complies with all Agency, Division and Branch rules, regulations and procedures.


Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:


Education:

Graduation from High School or GED.


Experience:

Three years of facility, equipment, or grounds maintenance experience.


Licensure:

Must possess or be able to obtain, within 30 days of employment, a valid class "C" Texas driver's license;


NOTE:
Retention of position contingent upon obtaining and maintaining required licenses.


ACCEPTABLE SUBSTITUTIONS:


Experience:


Thirty semester hours from an accredited college or university may substitute for one year of the required experience, with a maximum substitution of two years.


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:


Experience:

Experience working with the public;
Experience in customer service;
Experience in outdoor education;
Experience in implementing a safety program;
Experience with State Office of Risk Management (SORM) and/or SSO training;
Experience working with volunteers;
Experience in using power equipment;
Experience in using heavy equipment.
