The Process Engineer will be responsible for the establishment, maintenance, improvement of production lines for fiber optic products, continuous improvement projects and development of new products.
ResponsibilitiesWork with the R&D & Engineering Group to develop future products and processes.Select, design, and modify tooling, fixtures, and equipment as needed to improve safety, quality, throughput, and productivity objectivesDevelop and continually improve written process and test work instructionsDesign and implement shop floor layouts and workflowsEstablish and lead training, development, and certification plans for production associates and engineering technicians.
Identify, justify, plan, and lead continuous improvement and capacity expansion projects using Lean Manufacturing tools.Perform time studies and line balancing as needed.
Define, measure, and monitor process performance metrics to identify opportunities for product and process improvementWork with internal and external suppliers of materials, equipment, and services to execute projects, resolve problems, and improve processesInteract with customers on technical and quality related topics or issuesImprove housekeeping and safety by applying the 5S principlesPerform other duties as requiredQualificationsBachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering or equivalent educational experience3 or more years' experience new product introduction, process development, or process engineeringKnowledge of AutoCADExperience with machine or precision mechanical assembly and test methodsExperience with shop floor material handling equipmentExperience with fiber optic assembly and test methods is preferred.
Experience leading project and/or self-directed work teamsKnowledge of ISO-9000 based quality systemsKnowledge of MRP/ERP systemsBilingual English-Spanish Preferred.Personal QualitiesStrong attention to detail, organization, and analytical skillsSolid communication and interpersonal skills.
Proficiency with MS Office ApplicationsStrong leadership skillsSelf-starter with integrity and confidence who strives to achieve even the most challenging environments with limited supervision.
