The Industrial Designer will work alongside our sales staff to support new and existing customers with creative presentations to drive opportunities forward.
There is an emphasis early on within our development process to set Vira up to be competitive and differentiating to our customers.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Support new sales development by joining front line customer meetings; understand our customers' needs and communicate sound technical design
- Research customer objectives and merchandise presentation techniques to help downstream teams understand project intent
- Follow projects through entire development process from initial customer interactions, through engineering and into sampling to assure final intent is spot on.
- Execute on deliverables for customers using familiar software through strong design and technical abilities
- Sketching, 3D CAD, Rendering and 2D creative suites
- Assist on supporting both design and engineering tasks when needed to help balance workloads
- Provide installation instructions, both video and 2D requirements
- Collaborate with our creative and marketing teams to stay on brand and share skillsets
- Understand Vira's typical manufacturing methods to offer competitive design solutions
- Present design decks to customers for evaluation
- Value engineering of existing product offerings to improve margin
- Performs other duties as needed and assigned
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY:
This position does not have direct reports.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
- Meticulous attention to detail
- Proficient in word processing, spreadsheets, and database management programs specifically the Microsoft Office Suite
Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint
- Good at drawing/mechanical drafting
- Practical, yet creative
REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- 5 + years of experience in product design and manufacturing
- SolidWorks 3D CAD or other computeraided industrial design (CAID) software
- Bachelor's degree in design engineering, engineering, product design, or relevant field OR a combination of education and experience
OTHER JOB REQUIREMENTS:
- This position must be able to travel up to 10% of the time or as required
- Frequently required to sit, stand, walk, talk and hear
- Must have a valid driver's license
- Must be able to lift to 50 pounds, bend, and walk and climb stairs
