Job DescriptionJob DescriptionPosition Summary:
The Manufacturing Engineer I is responsible for maintaining and improving production capability utilizing structured problem solving to establish corrective actions and continuous improvements (established means defined, documented, and implemented).
Incumbent will be trained in supply chain issues to resolve part quality issues and/or implement enhancements for plastic molding and printed circuit board assemblies.
May also work on new product teams.Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Be resident expert on work cell processes and part requirements. Propose process improvements. Implement accepted proposals including training assembly personnel.
Track manufacturing metrics to detect potential problems and provide preventative solutions to avert problems before they happen.
Ensure accurate Bill of Materials and time standards.
Trouble shoot problem areas of the assembly process, document troubleshooting methods, document test results, analyze data, and develop corrective actions based on analysis.
Collaborate with supervisors and other stake holders to create, implement, and maintain continuous process improvements (reduce expenses while maintaining or improving production quality).
Work closely with Document Control to ensure changes are implemented and that the Engineering Change Order process is efficient.
Support Test Engineering group with transfer of test equipment into production.
May manage/ track prototype builds and provide Design for Manufacturability feedback to the design team.
Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
B.S. in Manufacturing or Industrial Engineering is preferred. Mechanical, Electrical, and Chemistry degrees are also strong backgrounds for the position and industry (electro-chemistry).
Self-directed: ability to prioritize work by determining the sequencing and timing of different jobs based on precedence and importance. Proactive in identifying problems.
Ability to write procedures and Engineering Change Orders.
Working knowledge of test and measurement equipment.
Understanding of Lean Manufacturing is required; experience is highly desirable.
Experience with the 7 quality tools is highly desirable.
Ability to work in a team environment and be a contributor toward team goals. Ability to maintain positive and cooperative communications.
Computer literate with MS Office applications and CAD is required. Database and ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) exposure and experience is helpful.
