    **Description**

    The Cafe Manager/Community Outreach Worker is responsible for coordination, supervision, and management of all food service and other Nutrition Program sponsored activities at a Brentwood Caf in Contra Costa County. The Cafe Manager/Community Outreach Worker position is supervised by the Nutrition Program Manager or other agency personnel approved by the Program Director.

    This position will be part of the Senior Nutrition Congregate Meals Program and will be responsible for developing, implementing, growing, and maintaining community outreach for the Senior Nutrition Program in Contra Costa County. This person will coordinate activities with senior center staff and the county nutritionist to promote increased awareness and participation in the congregate meals program and builds business relationships within Contra Costa County.

    **This candidate must be bilingual English/Spanish.**

    **ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS**

    Supervises/monitors all aspects of food handling and serving at a Caf Costa meal site, ensuring that food service procedures and practices are in full compliance with the California Retail Food Code and Program Policies and Procedures.

    Orders and verifies receipt of meals from the County designated caterer in accordance with Program Policies and Procedures, including timely preparation and submission of reports which verify meals receipt and service (i.e., Meal Charge Slips NP 50 form, Daily Foodservice Reports NP 36 form, Weekly Reports NP 39 form). Also responsible for submitting the Summary of Income and Deposits (twice/month), the monthly Nutrition Site Report (CDA 187) and NAPIS forms for all new participants, and other reports and documentation as may be required.

    Recruits, trains, and supervises volunteers in food handling techniques, record keeping, and other Caf operations functions.

    Defines volunteer tasks to be performed and assigns specific duties to individual volunteers.

    Responsible for the safeguard and reporting of participant Meal Income Contributions and Non-Senior Meals Fees, in accordance with State and Federal regulations and Program Policies and Procedures.

    Communicates program information to increase client participation and retention through community events, phone contacts, and online platforms.

    Produces a Client Referral Information Packet to disseminate as needed to senior citizens (adults aged 60+) in Contra Costa County.

    Nurtures new and continuing relationships with business partners and searches for virtual promotional event opportunities.

    Coordinates, schedules, and maintains a calendar of outreach exhibit activities, including community events, workshops, and networking events.

    Professionally represents the Senior Nutrition Program verbally and in Contra Costa County.

    Performs field visits to businesses, senior residential complexes, and public spaces to post printed advertisements on new client information at strategic locations in Contra Costa County.

    Other duties as assigned.

    **JOB QUALIFICATIONS**

    Ability to perform basic arithmetic calculations and prepare reports

    Proficiency with technology such as laptops or tablets and associated apps

    Good communicator with strong interpersonal skills

    Ability to demonstrate sound judgment in assigned tasks

    Ability to read, write, and follow verbal and written instruction

    Must be Bilingual English/Spanish

    **Education/Experience**

    One year of experience supervising or managing program operations with an equivalent combination of experience in the following:

    o Inventory and record keeping required

    o Food service operations and sanitation preferred

    o Working with and training volunteers preferred

    High School Diploma or Equivalent required

    Associate degree in communications, marketing, business, related field, or experience preferred.

    Ability to work independently

    Outstanding written communication and presentation skills

    Strong knowledge of social media and other basic marketing platforms

    **Certificates/Licenses/Clearances**

    Possession of valid California motor vehicle license to operate own vehicle with proof of car insurance.
