Safe Passages is a non-profit organization committed to disrupting the cycle of poverty by engaging youth and families to build and drive a continuum of services that supports student success and community development.

Safe Passages serves over 5,000+ children and families annually through our strategies that span the age continuum of birth through young adulthood, including Early Childhood, School Linked Services, Juvenile Justice and Career Pathways.


Safe Passages aims to integrate education and social services at school sites in order to make school communities catalysts for social change within the larger neighborhood context.

To this end, the Family Resource Coordinator works as part of an integrated team at a school site to support the development of services and partnerships necessary to meet low income families basic needs, and socio-economic mobility.

The Coordinator will help secure community partnerships, volunteers and resources to increase student and their family's engagement in their education and to help move individuals and communities towards a pathway of self-sufficiency.


Job Duties


The Interim Coordinator will oversee the delivery of services of an established family resource (FRC) and college and career center at an alternative/adult education school site operated by the Alameda County Office of Education.

Specific responsibilities relating to this job include: 1) Conducting ongoing outreach and engagement of youth and families to inform them of the FRC's resources and opportunities; 2) Ongoing relationship building with FRC agency and community partners; 3) Ongoing data tracking of services; 4) Support extended day family engagement events; 5) Support school based social workers with caseloads related to college and career transition efforts and public benefit enrollment; 6) Supervise a full-time VISTA responsible for outreach and food distributions.


Characteristics:


  • A minimum of a Bachelor's Degree in Behavioral Health, Social Sciences or equivalent; Masters Degree preferred.
  • Superior management skills.
  • Experience with college pathway programs including A-G requirements and community college pathways and programs to fouryear universities.
  • Experience with job and career internship program and job recruitment processes.
  • Experience working with high need opportunity youth and their families
  • Deep understanding of diverse racial, cultural norms and practices of the populations served.
  • Experience with working with lowincome communities of color and a deep understanding of social and racial equity issues.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines; can work independently and in a team.
  • Superior organizational, interpersonal and communication skills; demonstrated experience of written and oral presentation skills.
  • Financial management skills.
  • Coaching and teaching skills and temperament to support client/member learning.

Compensation:

This is a salaried full-time position interim position (3-4 months) with full benefits including medical, dental, vision; $65-85,000 salary based on academic preparation and experience.
