SHOP PROJECT MANAGER & TECHNICAL ILLUSTRATOR
General Summary
The Shop Project Manager & Technical Illustrator performs dual roles for Dovetail's custom wood and metal shop: managing the production process and creating the shop drawings. This position requires multiple skill sets in project management experience, technical drawing expertise, and fabrication experience in woodworking/cabinetmaking as well as architectural metal. Dovetail's shop supports its residential and commercial projects and fabricates custom wood and metal components such as casework, furniture, staircases, windows and doors, kinetic systems, hardware, and more. Dovetail's shop is the place to realize high-craft designs and collaborate with master craftspeople.
Job Description
This position is responsible for creating and maintaining the shop project schedules and budgets, and shepherding a project through from inception to completion. You work closely with the shop manager, shop production manager, architects, and clients to resolve design and construction issues. Coordinate, participate in, and document all project meetings. Spearhead all project communication, include relevant parties, and follow up. Proactively communicate schedule changes. Track and report budget changes throughout project.
Additionally, this position is responsible for creating all shop drawings. Drive the fabrication process through proactive communication, manage the process through meetings and documentation, improve the drawings through soliciting feedback, and update drawings accordingly. Attend pre-con meetings and visit jobsites. This position works closely with the team on the shop floor and reports directly to the shop manager.
Pay Range: $80,000-$90,000/year depending on experience
