    Description

    The Research Specialist A will perform a broad range of vascular and immune experiments as well as mouse work. The methods will include animal model development and characterization (animal handling, phenotyping, crossing, and surgery), vascular experiments (injecting mice with tracers and harvesting organs to determine vascular function), immune experiments (flow cytometry, ELISA, immunofluorescence, etc), and evaluating neuropsychiatric phenotypes (behavior). The Principal Investigator and current lab personnel will design experiments with the applicant, but the Research Specialist will be expected to troubleshoot these procedures as needed. The Research Specialist will also keep accurate notebooks, perform data analysis, and assist in publication preparation.

    This position is contingent upon grant funding.

    Job Responsibilities

  • Work with mouse models of neuropsychiatric disease and neuroinflammation.
  • Perform organ harvest, preparation for histopathological analysis, preparation of single cell suspensions for flow cytometry.
  • Maintain mouse colonies, including breeding, genotyping and characterization.
  • Bio-distribution experiments (injecting mice with tracers to determine vascular function)
  • Perform in vitro culture of endothelial and murine cells.
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned
  • Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in one of the following fields: Biology, Cell Biology, immunology, Neuroscience or other related fields.
  • 0 to 1 year of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience is required. Up to 3 years of experience preferred.

    $36, $50,000.00 Annual Rate

    Salary offers are made based on the candidate's qualifications, experience, skills, and education as they directly relate to the requirements of the position, as well as internal and market factors and grade profile.
