    Associate Faculty Pool, Paralegal Program (PT Faculty)

    DESCRIPTION
    The Paralegal Program is expanding its pool of part-time instructors.

    The areas of teaching that are in the highest demand are:

    Legal Research & Writing (LEG 210), Civil Litigation (LEG 225), Criminal Law (LEG 275), Medical Law (LEG 224), and Law Office Technology (LEG 228).

    The Paralegal Program at Edmonds College is ABA-approved.

    Students may obtain a Paralegal Associate of Technical Arts Degree (for new college students), an Advanced Paralegal Certificate (for students with a bachelor's degree or higher), or a Medical Paralegal Certificate (for registered nurses with a degree or diploma).

    REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

    • J.D. degree, or paralegal degree or Certificate from an ABA-approved program.
    • Experience working in a law office or legal department with paralegals, or as a paralegal.
    • Ability to communicate effectively in oral and written English.
    • Excellent technology skills and a familiarity with the Internet and communicating online.

    DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Active member of the Washington State Bar Association with at least five years of experience practicing as an attorney, or active member of the Washington State Paralegal Association with at least 10 years of experience as a paralegal.
    • Teaching experience at a community college or university.
    • Ability to work effectively with populations representing diverse ages, cultures, backgrounds, life experiences, and abilities, including adult learners.
    • Experience working with learning management systems (LMOs).

    PHYSICAL WORK ENVIRONMENT:
    Work is typically performed in a classroom which requires standing and/or sitting for extended periods of time. Instructors typically use a personal computer in the work environment.


    COMPENSATION:
    Work schedule is based on an eleven week quarterly schedule and could vary each quarter. Salary is dependent upon contract load and mode of instruction. A standard five-credit "lecture mode" class would be approximately $5,865.82 at Step A.


    CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:

    • You must document your citizenship or employment authorization within three days of hire.
    • Criminal background check. Prior to a new hire, a background check including criminal history will be conducted. Information from the background check will not necessarily preclude employment but will be considered in determining the applicant's suitability and competence to perform in the position.
    • All new positions are contingent upon funding.
    • At this time, Edmonds College does not sponsor H1-B Visas.
