    DESCRIPTION:
Edmonds College is seeking Full-Time Tenure-Track Faculty for our Nursing department.

This position is enabled by the Our Colleges, Our Future Act of 2021 to guarantee equitable access and educational success for all, particularly for students from communities of color and low-income communities.

The college seeks faculty who demonstrate enthusiasm for learning, are able to adapt to a variety of teaching situations, can employ student-centered approaches and instructional technology effectively, and who work collaboratively with students, staff, and others in a campus climate that promotes cultural diversity, equity, inclusion, and student learning and success.

This unique position is a genuine opportunity to change student lives through nursing education.

This instructor will be working with partners at the state level to facilitate a seamless pathway for nursing assistants through to an eventual BSN degree.

It will include taking a fresh look at our current practical nursing curriculum and aligning it with the Associate in Nursing Direct Transfer Agreements.

This will involve curriculum design, facilitation of simulation, creating partnerships with other schools and in the community, and working to remove the barriers that exist for our potential students.

The College's Nursing Department is small, but for that very reason, we are also "high touch", i.e. effecting change in people's lives in very meaningful ways.

As a Nursing Faculty Member, you will be responsible for teaching and providing leadership in various nursing courses.

In this role, you will be responsible for developing an inclusive and equitable curriculum, preparing teaching materials, developing and assessing learning outcomes to evaluate student work, assigning grades, maintaining required records, academic advising, and consulting with students.

    Other responsibilities include:

department head duties; participating in achieving the college's mission and goals; upholding the college's values; college governance via department and division work; committee assignments; required professional development and college in-service activities (including employee orientation and college compliance training); personal and program evaluation and attendance at industry and partnership meetings.

The teaching assignment may include early-morning, late-afternoon, evening, weekend, or online classes and will include classroom, skills lab, and clinical instruction as well as providing leadership and support for the development of simulation training for students.

This is a tenure-track position reporting to the Director of Nursing (DoN) and the Dean of Health and Human Services (HHS) and has an anticipated start date in September 2024; and will have a 9-month service period.

The college is especially interested in recruiting applicants with diverse backgrounds to teach our diverse student population.

Please see the "Application Procedures and Required Documents" section below for application information. Applications received by March 31, 2024 will receive priority consideration.

    CORE COMPETENCIES:
    Expertise in the Field

Demonstrate subject matter expertise, technological competency, and utilization of evidence-based teaching practices that actively engage all students in the learning process regardless of class modality.

    Cultural Competency

Demonstrated ability to create a learning environment that fosters student belonging and engagement by employing an inclusive and equitable curriculum that promotes cross-cultural connection and commitment to reflection, training, and collaboration to improve teaching.

Commitment to Equitable Access and Educational Success

Demonstrated experience providing equitable access and educational success for all students; particularly underserved populations, those who are low income, and students of color.

    REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Master's degree in nursing OR a related field is preferred. Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) is required with concurrent enrollment in a master's degree program. All degrees must be from a nationally accredited program.

    • Three years recent clinical experience in acute care preferred OR long-term nursing care environment.
    • Evidence of or potential for college-level teaching experience in a nursing program is desired.

The college provides an excellent benefits package which includes medical, dental, life insurance, and a retirement plan.
